I understood that the offside rules stated that a player is offside “with any part of his body, with which he might score”

So, our striker. who’s feet, legs, body and head are all onside, points with his arm where he wants the ball played, is ruled offside because of his outstretched arm.

This VAR interpretation of offside is, as they say, bringing the game into disrepute.

It’s all gone silly, as far as I am concerned.

Although I did not see the Palace, Leeds game, 4-1 was a bit of a shock, I was expecting a much closer result. Perhaps the game was closer than the score line suggests.

More slightly unexpected results today some top draw strikers today though he was on the losing side and one of his goals was weirdly called off side I though Patrick Bamfords two strikes where excellent Leeds will do well to hold on to him and Bruno Fernandes for Man U two goals and an assist.

Arsenal’s topsy turvy season continues Sunday night at Villa who will turn up the impenetrable, high pressing, high tempo Arsenal or the timid, defensive Arsenal?

Good result for “the lot at the other end of the M27”!

Chelsea playing nicely recently😀

Knew Ziyech was going to be a star here!

Why not…Chas and Dave and Spurs, a match made in heaven.

Some would say, tight. The best defenders are those with no arms.

Scrolling through my photos & found this. Posted on the photos thread but just as relevant here. This was a midweek match at Tottenham vs. Norwich. Really miss live football as I suspect we all do!

Its been a long long time since Spurs were last at the top of the table, I think in those days it was called Division 1. I had to do a double take to see the Premier League table; great news!

Has it? Six years if you want to be exact!

Spurs deserved the win. City don’t seem to have a cutting edge without Aguero and their defence doesn’t look secure.

Sometimes games just go that way don’t they? I’m not sure they deserved to win in its entirety though. They were completely outplayed for the majority of the game and scored on the break and clinical finishing went their way today.

But good to see Tottenham on the top…for awhile.

Chelsea looked very inspired yesterday, I think they will be one of the ‘main’ challengers for the title this year.

Miss my seat

Pepe is a complete idiot but a draw was as best a result we could hope for after the sending off the excellent bordering on mediocre season continues.

I know rules is rules, and Pepe and Alioski had been scuffling just prior to the “headbut” but our guy did make the most of it… (don’t think I’d class it as a Glesgae Kiss exactly).

Otherwise, hit the post twice and the bar once, and our newer signings are settling in fine.

Do think you were lucky to get away with the draw, though.

I wouldn’t say lucky as both Aubameyang and Saka had great chances they both should have buried after we went down to 10 men but the post and cross bar came to our rescue so you would have to say that if you had to pick a winner then it would have been you.

After Pepe went off I did fear the worst so I’d say a combination of bad finishing on your part and not bad defending on ours made the draw a reasonably fair result because even with the post and the crossbar efforts you should have buried us.

On the subject of Pepe yes Alioski did make the most of it but in modern football and VAR if you put your head even close to another players your getting sent off so purely for being a knobhead he deserved a red.

You’re right about modern football and VAR, but I do have a slight sympathy for Pepe, given that Alioski is well known at Elland Road as being a wind up merchant.
