I was looking forward to today’s Liverpool v Man United clash but came away disappointed. A draw was probably a fair result but the game was pretty drab and at no point did I find myself leaning forward from my seat in anticipation. Man U were well organised but Liverpool’s forward line seem to have lost their mojo.
Firstly well done to the Seagulls this weekend a great team goal in ‘a must win game’ against Leeds because for a team in Brighton’s position every single game is a must win game at the moment.
I thought from what I saw the Black Country derby was a great game and well done to WBA and thank you because my work mate who has bantered me without mercy this season is a Wolves fan.
At the top Man City are looking very, very potent and I’d have to say they are favourites at the moment.
City seem to have quietly climbed the table and still have a game in hand. It’s going to be an interesting fight this season and even more interesting how Liverpool have fallen off compared to how they were.
I read that it would take United at least 7 seasons to challenge for the title (since Fergie) and that now seems about right.
Overall though it’s not been a great season but is perhaps to be expected.
Also glad that the Ozil situation has finally been sorted. I’m sad to see him leave instead of being reintegrated but is a pipe dream.
An amazing talent and wish him all the best.
I thought Man City looked a good side against a gritty Palace last night. The aspect that struck me was how much more solid City now look in defence. I know their goal scoring rate this season is much lower than in recent seasons but the ability to keep clean sheets has always been the mark of a side with realistic ambitions of winning the title.
Yes very sad to see Mesut go I was lucky enough to see him play many times especially with Alexis Sanchez together they could be devastating.
I’m not sure what went on this season but I would have liked to have seen him play out his final season with us.
Despite the press ridiculing him over the pay cut thing of which we will never know the truth he was a philanthropist and gave away a lot of money to charity.
It helps that Stones has finally found his form again, I think City quietly needed that simply to create some competition to up their game a little.
I think it’s reasonable to expect teams to drop the performances for a period of time, and when that happens it’s good to have hungry players waiting to get involved when given the chance.
Agreed, @JOF. It’s nice to Stones back on form. I was also impressed by Dias. The first time I’ve really seen him play.
Another ‘Must win game’ for the Arsenal if we are to avoid not qualifying for a European competition for the first time in 25 years, 21 consecutive seasons in the Champions League and the past 3 in the europa League.
You are lucky Indeed.
I never really saw what the haters saw and personally felt he needed a team of similar quality to get the absolute best from him. What I saw on TV however epitomised Wenger’s style and it’s a real shame he wasn’t older and around when we had a better squad.
My memory is pretty poor nowadays but he made some jaw dropping passes/assists like the back heel assist to Giroud from the centre circle against Villa. More recently another back heel off the goal line against Liverpool.
I’m still annoyed with the club for the way he’s been treated but is time to move on I guess.
Edited to add that BBC football have Ozil’s top 5 moments on video. I think there’s way more than 5 but nice viewing all the same.
A good win for the Arsenal the youngsters Smith Rowe and Saka where excellent again as was KT but best of all our Captain P E Aubameyang netted two goals.
Come on the Goobers.
Good progress but lads, stop the hugging.
I’ve just been watch in the Leicester v Chelsea game and can’t understand how Mount is in the England team ahead of Maddison. As a player Maddison is streets ahead.
No wonder our national team never wins anything.
Meanwhile, the mighty Hammers’ unbeaten run continues. All hail the Moyesiah!
Iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiironnnnnnnssssssss!!!
I only saw the second half of the Leicester v Chelsea game. The Foxes looked good for their win, pressing forward right to the end. Well done to them for topping the PL this evening.
Earlier this evening I enjoyed Pompey’s comfortable home win over struggling Wimbledon. That makes it six consecutive clean sheets in League One. Massive game at home against Hull City on Saturday but we should go into it with confidence eg highest scorers in L1 as well as fewest goals conceded. Eeek! I hope I haven’t just tempted fate
Yes Leicester are looking a shoe in for a top four spot whereas Chelsea look to be falling backwards I’m not sure FL is up to the job just yet though if Chelsea stick with him he might well become a very good manager.
West Ham continue to shine it’s really nice to see DM start to fulfil his own potential.
I see reports that Arsenal are once again interested in Buendia.
These things are often generated by hungry agents but a figure of £15 million has been quoted which is laughable.
Not only is he the best player outside of the premiership you only have to look at his stats last year to see he can more than cut it in the premiership.
Norwich are rightly holding out for £40 million but I hope he sees City promoted before he leaves us.
We Saints are at home to Arsenal twice in four days. Sat at 12.15pm in the 4th round of FA Cup, then 8.15pm on Tues in the Prem. Looking forward to both.
I thought he only scored once and got 5 assists last year? I might be wrong admittedly I have double checked.
I’ve seen better figures but there are a lot of “stats” put out on sites.
I’ve been lucky to have seen both Maddison and Buendia at City in recent seasons. Both very effective players who were obviously premiership quality.
Buendia is different in so far as he has flair that you only see in a very small number of players and uniquely for this type of player he is all over the park defending as well as creating.
He’s the only player I’ve seen pass whilst in mid air and turning. Real box office.
I only wish Delia would find a friendly billionaire so we could keep many of the young players we are producing.
