Quite remarkable.
When I visited friends in Japan, this guy was seen as a sports hero and was often mentioned when discussions got around to football.

What on earth is going on with my Spurs ? They are currently playing as if they only met each other in the Pub half an hour before kick-off.
Brain numbingly negative, can’t pass the ball 5 metres, can’t shoot, wimpy tackling, standing around waiting for the ball - absolutely no movement, brain-f@rts in defence.
I know Jose is known to be a rather defensive type of manager, but surely he’s not the only one to blame here. Are the players simply not as good as they think they are ?
Yesterday was woeful, painful to watch and I’m not holding out too much hope that this is going to change any time soon.
Bob, here’s your cue… whatever you say, the team will deserve it
WW I have to admit I didn’t watch the match but will watch highlights later.
I will only say this if Daniel Levy had given Poch the money he spent buying out his contract and paying for Jose’s tenure then you would have a team not only exciting to watch but mounting a full assault on the PL.
Purely with my Gooner hat on the day you swapped Poch for Jose was a great day it cut short what could have been a long domination over us.
I’m very happy with Arteta but would have gladly taken Poch I’ll not be surprised if he wins the CL with PSG.
Hei WW,
I am yet to be convinced that he knows how to get to the point where he can get that team to play football in a manner which utilises the players strengths. To me, he seems only to be able to try to get the players to play the way he wants them to play, which seems to cause lots of problems with ‘the style’ of football and the consistency of the teams performances. I would put the consistency down to the fact that the players themselves are not convinced about the way they are playing.
Some players accept playing football in a way that is not naturally suited to them, others not so. I still think Son and Kane need more convincing.
Anyway, we shall see what happens by the end of the season with Jose.
I agree. It was so frustrating watching them last night but not surprising given that they’ve dropped points to so many teams this season by failing to build on a 1-0 lead.
For me the problem is midfield. Defence is generally OK (except when Sanchez plays) and Hojbjerg does a good job of protecting the back four. Son & Kane are, of course, excellent but they are not being supported by a creative midfield.
They don’t have midfielders who will regularly score goals or who unlock defences like Christian Eriksen could (how I’d love to have him back!). With the players at his disposal: Sissoko, Lo Celso, Ndombele, Dele, Lamela & Winks, Mourinho isn’t getting anywhere near the best out of them in an attacking sense. Winks & Lamela can go tomorrow for 35p & a bag of toffees in my view.
Unlike @Bobthebuilder above, I am glad we moved Poch on as he’d taken the team as far as he could but it’s still very frustrating. At least we’re above Arsenal, Chelski & West Ham so not all bad .
Every game is a big game for the Arsenal at the moment so tonight is a must win against Crystal Palace unfortunately KT is being rested but on a positive both Gabriel and Thomas Partey are on the bench.
Yep, positive to see Partey and Gabriel back, even if on the bench.
I’m hoping they can build on the last three matches but we’ve not got a great record with Palace of late.
Definitely need the win and especially at home.
Poch turns a corner…Tottenham don’t.
Well we couldn’t break down a very stubborn Crystal Palace but it was a clean sheet and it was a point.
In some ways I’m glad that our frailties and our need for certain players is very apparent because at the end of the day despite winning our last few games we are a team at the very beginning of a transitional period that will take as long as our owner takes to invest properly.
Yes the youth academy is great and we are getting some exceptional talent but this needs to be alongside a well thought out transfer policy.
Could say that for any team in any division. Outrageous you think that unique to your very, very underperforming outfit. This from someone who enjoyed Arsenal under Wenger.
I didn’t say or think that Arsenal’s situation is unique and if I did it would hardly be an outrage would it? Narrow minded or partisan perhaps but certainly not outrageous.
But thinking about it I’d argue our situation is quite unique apart from Man Utd no club has gone through a transition like the one we find ourselves in. Arsene Wenger was one of the top three greatest managers in Premier League history his influence over our club rivalled only by the great Herbert Chapman. He was in charge for 21 years so when a manager like that who has had such influence over a club leaves it leaves a huge void to be filled which is almost unique in the PL.
One minute it’s “must win” and then… it isn’t.
Why do people totally misrepresent what you write on this thread. Of course it was a must win but in retrospect I could see a bigger picture.
Sorry if that offended your sense proprietary Mike.
Oh behave.

Did I misplace a comma? What precisely was the misrepresentation?
If you don’t actually mean that it was a must win game then it’s probably best to not say that as there is only one way to “represent” that.
I thought it errant nonsense when you first posted it and more so in light of your subsequent post. Trying to rewrite what you said is unlikely to do you much of a favour.
Sorry if that offends you Bob. There are no “must win” games at this stage of a season.
Zzzzzz
There are. Every game Leicester play they need to win to stay in contention. Same with Spurs now, altho seeing spurs tumble down the table from top to not top is very enjoyable.
To be scrupulously fair Bob I should explain that one my son’s godparents worked directly for a prominent Arsenal board member so I’ve had an inside line on the goings on at Arsenal since around 1994/95 and, although slightly more indirect nowadays, still get a fairly accurate picture of events. Few fans get a glimpse behind the curtain but it’s often hilarious to see how off the mark fans are with their assessment of what goes on behind the curtain. I try to limit what I post in that respect for obvious reasons.
Similar experience with my own club where I’ve had three periods of significant contact behind the scenes over 45 years.
When fans talk of must win games at EPL level that has little significance unless the board are trigger happy.
Sorry to disappoint you, but we seem to have won our must-win game today…
If anyone has been keeping an eye on Spurs this season (God help you), you will realise that Tanguy’s remarkable goal today was not a fluke.
The guy is outrageously talented - his ball control, ball holding and dribbling skills are absolutely ridiculous. One of the best midfielders in the Premier League.
