Football Season 2020 - 2021

Rod Liddle in today’s Sunday Times:

“So Mick McCarthy is not good enough for Cardiff fans. Who did they want - Pep?”

So as a Manchester born chap, with leanings towards the Blue side, I have a dilemma… who do I hate most…ManUre or the Scousers?

Compared to that recent dull PL game between Man U and Liverpool I thought this evening’s FA Cup tie was very entertaining. Nice to see Salah back into scoring ways but I thought young Rees Jones looked out of his depth. United now look a confident side. Fernandes looks real class. Klopp’s rubbish record in the FA cup goes on.

When the Mancs come up against The Clean Sheet Elite in the next round, they won’t know what’s hit 'em…

Frank to be replaced by Tuchel later apparently…

Not sure how I feel about that. A new, well liked manager replaced by someone more experienced who gets sacked every two years. Frankly PSG should be winning the league every season in France, so not sure how good that makes him!

I agree @Jamiewednesday. Lampard’s body language recently has suggested he knew the axe was hovering but to build something solid more patience is needed from the Board. Man U have shown patience with Ole and that now looks to be paying off. I’ve been chatting to a Chelsea mate. He wonders whether Tuchel is a bit of a ‘fashion’ move ie German managers seem to be in vogue currently. I don’t really think Tuchel has a track record that suggests he’s going to turn Chelsea into PL winners within the 18 months or so that the Board are likely to give him.

I thought Lampard was lucky to be appointed in the first place.
He had very limited experience and was very average at Derby.

Hmmm…Derby have gone from strength to strength since I guess…:open_mouth:

I don’t see the point of any club bringing in a relatively young and inexperienced manager unless the intention is to stick with him for the medium term, at least.

Certainly, where a “name” coach is concerned, if he fails to deliver, then, by all means, show him the door.

Still, much as I have little time for Frank Lampard, he will at least be departing Chelski with a few quid in his back pocket.

In other news … Benitez, anyone?

M.O.T.

Chelsea have long been plagued by vile owners. Ken Bates was reprehensible, but Abramovich makes him look like the tooth fairy. So much for the newly unveiled “In Frank we trust” banner.

Tuchel won’t last two years.

Once Frank was given £200,000,000 to spend it put a time limit on him.

I guess that the Luton game was the final push :grinning:Even though we were up against it for the whole game, the fact the we actually scored (one of our key failings), Chelsea looked very disjointed: one or two talents but no cohesion from front to back. …oh, and every game now is a multi ball game :smiley:one for the opposition (& the cameraman!) to look at while Chelsea play with the other…

Here at Bhoyo Towers, we’re always happy to see former Hoops doing well.

Well played tonight The Arsenal up to 8th from 15th, 16 points from 6 games, 13 goals for and 3 against which is much more like it.

Tomorrow or Thursday we will see the on loan signing of Martin Ødegaard from Real Madrid announced one of European football’s brightest young stars will join Emile Smith Rowe, Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli and hopefully help to maintain our good run.

United on Saturday is a big test hopefully Kieron Tierney and P E Aubameyang will be back and we can beat them home and away this season.

I’m very disappointed with the performance of my lot against Bob’s lot this evening at St Mary’s. Once we went behind the result seemed inevitable. I could see Hasenhüttl having a word with defender Jan Bednarek at full-time. Probably something about easy goals. I have also wondered if Fraser Forster would have kept them out.

Villa at the weekend. Jack Grealish I do admire though they are more than Grealish.
