They are a better team now as they are secure at the back.
They’ll need to retain Buendia, Cantwell and Aarons . A big loss will be Skipp back to Spurs.
Last time in the premiership we were ok for the first part of the season but injuries and suspensions exposed a squad that lacked both depth and athleticism.
I don’t think our self funding model will work in the premiership as well need to spend as Villa and Leeds have done to build a squad for the whole season.
I hope a suitable billionaire comes along and Delia sells but I think hell will freeze over first.
If we don’t invest my biggest fear is that Farke and Webber will walk and we’ll be back to square one. Farke is a brilliant coach as can be seen from the results he achieves and apparently he’s already turned down offers from other clubs.
In more recent times, we’ve had Charlie Austin too
Perfect! …an ACTUAL Bricklayer!
…he’s also been convicted of assault, which obviously get’s him additional bonus points in the currently being devised UEFA Bricklayer Rule.
There are some parallels behind my theory - Formula 1 is constantly trying to make cars slower, to bring back a more competitive nature to the sport. Of course the answer is much simpler - leave the cars as they are, and for every Lewis Hamilton you need to have a Lewis Grabban behind the wheel.
I think I once heard Greavsie say, ‘good footballers don’t come from homes with central heating.’
Reading these last few posts, I realise now what’s wrong with my Spurs team.
They are just too good…
It’s a brave team that takes a stand and adopts the Bricklayer rule unilaterally! …although I do think Sheffield United have had a go!
Mislav Orsic honorary Gooner and legendary slayer of The Spuds he chipped and mashed them with a magical hat trick the only annoying thing is that he deprived The Arsenal of knocking them out. It was a catastrophic loss for Spurs and must surely see the end of Jose’s tenure.
Could Man Utd also go out an away goal down against AC Milan. I would actually love to draw Rangers in the next round just to see Kieran Tierney single handedly beat them.
P.s
Just incase there are any Spuds supporters left out there The Arsenal are through to the quarter finals.
2 - 0 up from the first leg. I absolutely love Mourinho being there as manager. Everyone could see what was going to happen apart from that mug Levy.
As my late Dad used to say…
“It’s not the winning that matters, it’s the taking part”.
At home, not taking calls.
I’d like to be a fly on the wall when Levy has to part with about £10 million to get shot of Jose, meanwhile Poch wins the Champions League with PSG.
Man Utd through Rangers out.
Or Gerrard’s Rangers in the same group as Klopp’s Liverpool in next seasons Champions League…that could have been interesting.
At least we were in Europe for a while.
Last time West Ham players were in Europe was during the 2nd World War…
Still had a score to settle with Spurs, so mixed feelings regarding them being out. Mourinho just pleased, irregardless of the 2017 final. Just can’t stand how he makes his teams play. Spurs a good example.
Let’s see if we can draw United, or do we want to wait for the final?
You may well mock and laugh but this is a good season for The Spuds 2 weeks at the top, RO16 EL and their pants taken down a League Cup Final.
Not a bad draw Slavia Praha and we avoid Man U until the final if we both get through.
We could get Unai Emery’s Villarreal in the semi though
