Football Season 2020 - 2021

Roma for us, bit unfortunate that Man U. drew Granada. Will likely get through relatively easy without injuries or suspensions. Would have been better off in the other half where Arsenal was the only “tough” team.

Grenada are not a bad team though their form has dipped of late and you would think Man U are capable of getting past them. Roma are only 6th in Seria A but like all top Italian sides will defend well but on your day you are more than capable of beating anyone in that draw.

I’m a huge fan of Tadic and can’t believe when he was at Southampton that until you picked him up another ‘big’ side didn’t at the time we had a lot of that type of player otherwise he would have been a great fit at Arsenal.

I think in Tadic’s case he actually wanted to live in the Netherlands, mainly have his kids grow up here. And at Ajax he of course knew he’d play CL every season. So I think there was a bit of luck / good timing involved in us being able to sign him.

Once again fans of the north eastern premier club are watching other club’s matches that will decide their fate. Tonight it’s Fulham.

Man U haven’t beaten Arsenal in the EPL since April 2018 and though their form is better this year they are not the Man Utd of old my feeling is over two legs if you both get through that you could beat them in the Semi-Final and I wouldn’t right off Granada just yet.

An Ajax v Arsenal final is a possibility Mikel Arteta is doing a fine job with the players he has who themselves need to cut out some individual errors. Though we had terrible form at the end of last year Mikel has now beaten Liverpool, Man City, Man Utd and Chelsea and won 2 trophies whilst overhauling a squad and taking the club through a huge transition.

I think Ajax v Arsenal could turn out to be a great game to watch.

I think the teams are as good as there league position. Game on

Of course this is a competition for teams placed just outside the CL spots at the end of last season but this is a knockout competition not a league match and as we’ve just seen the top placed team in the Greek league (by 16 points) where not good enough to beat 10th placed EPL team Arsenal nor where top placed Dynamo Kiev (again by 16 points) able to beat 7th placed Villareal.

There are 16 points and 8 places between Man Utd and Arsenal yet they where unable to beat us home and away this season. I think this and all knockout competitions has more to do with present form and desire on the day than about season long form.

Every dog has its day I guess

Yes they do and Arsenal Football Club are about to go through an upsurge in performance and success. Within the next two seasons we will return to the Champions League and will again challenge for top honours.

Man United are on a similar journey too us after a great manager leaves/retires but are a year or two ahead of us but I guarantee you that one day soon these two great teams will be challenging against each other for more than just bragging rights.

I agree Bob. I have seen improvement from Man U since Ollie took over from the special one. He left a team in special need. They could not string two passes together. Awful to watch.

Which begs the question WTF did Daniel Levy hire him don’t get me wrong happy he did.

When everything goes well it’s because of Jose but when it doesn’t it’s the player’s, ref’s, weather’s, God’s… fault.

He must interview well :joy:

A friend of mine is a Spurs fan, I told him what was coming. He might bring some early success but if enjoy watching good football then you will be disappointed. It’s almost as if players are so constrained by his orders they fight their instinct check his orders every time they receive the ball. Eventually they are clueless.

Spurs have been unlucky for a long time now… I mean, just look at our determination here…
The other team (obviously Bayern in disguise) would have scored here against anybody… cough, cough :flushed:

THIS sums up the problem we have.

Bonus point for naming any Spurs player who actually did more than jog, or walk… :confounded:

WW you’re taking all the fun out of bantering you by agreeing.
