OK South Korea aside.

There is a joke amongst other supporters that since Liverpool’s recent successes that many thousands of ‘Life Long’ supporters have come out of the woodwork it’s a bit banter that’s all.

Living in Manchester is fascinating. For years there was this spin that United fans travelled in at the weekend from Ireland etc. They did but I can’t say it impacted my travel to Wales for a match. Nowadays one can be stamped to death by City fans coming in from Ireland, London and much further afield. Probably 5 times the numbers who follow United.

Yes it’s a weird one and City have gone from being the team most other supporters actually cheered on to taking United’s place as being roundly disliked.
I can’t believe I’m about to say this but in actual fact the all conquering United side of the 1990’s where more deserving of their success because they where a team built around a core of academy youngsters some of who where local lads rather than a team of expensive superstars assembled by a consortium of mega rich individuals.

I’ve yet to see American fans wearing City shirts.

And there, in a nutshell, is my numero uno reason for my growing disenchantment with all things Premier League.

And it took how many decades?

It’s hard to argue with that and equally frustrating when you support a club that although considered an elite club that can buy the likes of Nicolas Pepe for 72 million Euros still uses a financial model that means it is self sustainable.

We have an owner to the frustration of many fans who refuses to bankroll the club because of course it means we cannot compete financially with Man City, Man Utd, Liverpool or Chelsea and of course we all know after Man City where allowed to compete in this seasons CL that the fair play rules are a joke.

Unless each club is forced to live within it’s means without billionaire owners bankrolling them it will be an unfair competition.

For my disenchantment to grow? Not many. It accelerated with the Man City billions.

Hey! I’d be happy for my lot to be repeating league games against the Foxes.

Agree with much of what you say however, if relying largely on say gate receipts, how can Fulham with capacity of 25,000 (and rather large cost base associated with it’s SW post code) ever compete financially with ManU at 75,000? Surely, for the most part, the big rich clubs will stay the big rich clubs?

Of course and nothing much that you can do about that unless of course you take the budget of the smallest club and make that the amount available to every club wouldn’t that be great!

But of course there is a balancing act our League is the best in the world and attracts the best players because of the money involved and who would want to change that but a tightening of the Fair Play rules and a much, much stricter imposing of punishments ie not letting Man City get away with blatantly cooking the books would be a good start.

Man Utd just got past the post 3-2 against Brighton I didn’t watch the match but will be interested to see how the Seagulls played.

VAR used a few times, but mysteriously not after MU first goal.

Maguire pushing the defender in the back, Maguire going through the defender attempting to kick the ball, in doing so causing the defender to kick the ball into the net.

Bizarre.

I see that “Fergie Time” lives on. :man_shrugging:

Mr. Lampard doesn’t look quite as amused as I feel! (Sorry @Jamiewednesday)

This idea that young managers are still learning their trade is nowadays largely nonsense. You’ve either got it or you’ve not. Lampard has money and little else.

I have said on numerous occasions we won’t win anything in that kit.
