Football Season 2020 - 2021

The Bubblegum Swirl popsicle? It’s one of many vile shirts this season.

Great game, however.

Game of two halves Ron…

Chelsea lucky to get a point there, I thought. Super Slav!

Very, very lucky Chelsea.

Hugely entertaining if only for Thiago Silva’s comedy routine.

Questions should and will be asked of Lampard.

Timo has to start knocking them in shortly, meanwhile Tammy showing a bit of his previous form :grinning: Mind, if we’d hit the net instead of the woodwork a couple of times early on and winning 2-1, could have been different

Doesn’t really matter if your manager has set up the defence so that the midfield don’t cover it and the keeper is exposed.

It’ll be fine

Everton although a bit lucky today are the form team so far.

I’ve just watched Manchester United and Brighton where so, so unlucky they’re just crying out for a goal scoring centre forward and they’ll surprise a few teams this season Potter is doing a fine job.

I was impressed with Leicester when they beat Burnley recently but, today, wow! What a performance by the Foxes. Some clumsy challenges by City to concede three penalties, especially those by Mendy and Walker, but Leicester thoroughly deserved their big win. Credit Rodgers too as he out-thought Pep.

@MDS Mike, There’s a headline on the Evening News site saying ‘Jackett’s lost the dressing room’. What do you make of the sentiment?

Absolutely magnificent from West Ham there. Now we’re top 10! :innocent:

Hi @Christopher_M. I don’t think I’m the only Pompey fan who has been becoming increasingly frustrated with Jackett’s tactics and his inability to fire up the players. It’s very hard to see what he’s trying to achieve on the pitch and the players are looking low in confidence. When I see Jackett’s post-match comments, I regularly think he must have watched a different game to me. I think there’s something in the Evening News comment. This is Jackett’s fourth season in charge and it’s hard to see what if any progress he is making. I believe his contract is up at the end of this season and if, as looks likely, we under-achieve again, it’s hard to see it being renewed. Indeed, I wouldn’t be surprised to see it terminated early, though in this current climate with the prospect of no crowds for another 6 months, I wouldn’t be surprised if a majority of L1 and L2 clubs vote to pause or abandon the season.

The Hammers looked pretty good to me this evening, Kev. Before the game I was expecting Wolves to take the points.

Yep, we’ll probably lose 12 – 0 to Leicester next week!

This Penalty VAR thing has gone totally bonkers! The Eric Dier one was just ridiculous and because of the time this is taking we are getting 7, 8, 9, 10 of minutes extra time.

When managers like Steve Bruce are saying that a penalty which saved them from losing was the wrong call then things are bad.

The whole thing is becoming a problem and we are in danger of sucking the life out our game each and every time the ball hits a player anywhere on the arm players are crowding the ref and calling for a penalty, something needs to be done.

Bang on.
Not only is the hand ball rule stupid, but when we look at the video pictures that the VAR guys look at to make their decision, it’s baffling how they can make such a decision.

For example (not picking on it because it is an Arsenal situation), your boys got out of jail the other day against West Ham when a clear handball against Gabriel was looked at by VAR and ignored. Clear as a day.
Yesterday, Dier handled the ball, according to VAR, when it was actually behind him. One minute earlier, Lascelles had a much more clear handball in the Newcastle area - the ref. and VAR totally ignored it.

How on earth could they make these decisions when looking at the same video clips we see ?

I’m afraid that I’m starting to believe the game is bent.

Rant over from a bitter Spud.

Just to pick up on the fine detail of the law, that one wasn’t a pen as the defender’s arms were within his natural silhouette against his torso, so not a pen.
