Football Season 2023/24

£300,000 + extras was never going to be enough, despite being twice our largest spend, so far, this summer.

Besides, we’ve already got Idah…

Freebies are all we’re in for thanks to our self funding model resulting in a £60 million shortfall.:rage:

Yes, & haven’t spotted a Pukki amongst them yet.

Not quite fearing relagation, yet, but forecasting another 10th to 17th finish.

I’m afraid talk of investment from America convinced me to renew the season tickets. I now feel I’ve once again been led up the garden path.

Apparently Jordan Henderson is going to be earning £700,000 a week. The Graun is having a pop at him for abandoning his stance on LGBTQ+ issues by making the move. I’m sure he’s now thinking twice…

In Norwich transfer fee terms (so far this summer), that’s four new players a week.

How the other half lives.

But you will still renew your season ticket like any other true supporter.

You know I envy you that ticket which is not possible from Cornwall. Still, I have Plymouth v City to look forward to on the 23rd September. This also happens to be my birthday so I feel a four or five nil win is on the cards.

Must remember to stop taking the drugs…

At least you’ll be able to see Bali Mumba are latest transfer mistake.
Better player than many we retained.

Our season took a turn for the worse.

United youngsters came out with an apparent intent to rough up the professionals and we’ve paid a heavy price. Keeper took out Mullin on twelve minutes with what ought to have been a straight red. Mullin has a punctured lung. At best he’ll be out for nearly two months if we’re lucky. Little surprise when a United player did get a red and Parky quite right to be angry to the United approach. Some of their tackles were awful. Glad we won but this likely rules out automatic promotion as none of the remaining strikers will match what he contributes on or off the ball.

Interesting now to see where we’re really at. Official line is that we’ve built a team for league one and thus only one signing pre season. In reality I suspect we’re way over budget and what money there is will be going solely into infrastructure such as the new Kop and more. If I’m wrong then we absolutely have to go out and make a statement signing to replace Mullin. Genuinely can’t see us doing it though.

The debt we’re racking up here doesn’t bear thinking about. “Investment” as others would put it.

Wasn’t the game meant to be a “friendly”?

Professional football requires owners with big wallets to overcome these short term emergencies, if not you end up like Norwich.

M. Lukaku is looking for a new home and isn’t fussed about heading to a warm & dry climate apparently. I believe Wrexham may suit.

They need a striker after a Man U player put theirs out for two months or more in a pre season friendly

I’ve been reading how Wrexham are in line for a $20-25 million profit this year (or maybe it was revenue). Time to crack open that Zelle account.

Also appears a huge mistake to me.

Obviously, with our current squad being packed with huge amounts of talent, the powers that be saw no reason to retain him…

Following Southampton’s relegation, I now have to scroll down on the BBC’s football pages, to find news on my Saints in the Championship, below the Women’s World Cup and the Scottish Premiership.

First world problems I know, but a hard brush with the new reality!

I have a new found empathy with Tranmere fans.

The words “like Norwich” can be replaced with “relatively stable” and “close to solvent” Overcoming this will cost and, as ever, the money comes out of the owners pockets but they will get it back from the club at a time of their choosing so it’s a debt not an investment.

We have £3m debt or “investment” of you’re @JohnF  so that figure is likely to be turnover and probably an underestimate. Debt will go up this year as the fourth side/new Kop gets built finally and there is much other infrastructure stuff taking place which will rack it up too.

I feel your pain. Try supporting a team beginning with W. Every year we start at the bottom of the table. For fifteen years I’ve had to abandon certain “reliable” sources of news as for them the National League simply didn’t exist.
