Football Summer Transfer Window 2026

You’re out of touch if you think he’ll go for that price Bob…

I didn’t say he will go for that amount but that was Andre Berta’s opening offer. Berta’s scatter gun approach to buying players is to ‘set up’ deals on several players in positions Arsenal have identified and to see how they develop before opting for one from the list.

Bouaddi, Tonalli, Nico Paz, Morten Hjulmand and now Guimares are on that list I believe personally I’d go for Bouaddi but I definitely wouldn’t say no to Guimares I’d pick him over Tonali every day.

To be clear, a formal offer for Guimaeres has not yet been made. If I was a betting man, I’d say that Bruno will stay with us, but Tonali will go. As always, time will tell…

If David Ormstein is to be believed, it would appear that Arsenal may have lodged a bid for Bruno at c. £58m. I can only assume, at that level, it includes Zubimendi coming the other way?

I had forgotten about this thread so posted the following on the Premier League thread. My rant about journalists who have no accountability to anyone: -

I must admit, sometimes I think it is all stirred up by the journalists to see what they can make happen.

Fabrizio Romano is like a plague of boils! He posts that transfers are a done deal when they clearly are not and the player doesn’t move to the club he stated (if at all). He has no credibility yet he still gets employed to spout his rubbish. According to him last year we had signed Joao Pedro “a done deal” in his words with transfer fee and everything. We all know that never came to be.

He even posted this week about Martin Dubravka’s recent move and referred to him as the ex Burnley and Man Utd player! He was a Newcastle player for 7 years and we loaned him to Man Utd for 4 months yet Newcastle didn’t rate a mention!

He is currently in a spat with the Telegraph’s Luke Edward’s who pulled him for his baseless rumours and quoted some of Romano’s false claims back at him. A plague of boils I tell you!

Well we know for a fact that he puts out stories for money.

Fabrizio Romano is just a product of the internet listen to him or don’t, he has always been pretty much on the money where Arsenal are concerned though but anything he says that doesn’t have his
‘Here We Go’ catchphrase is just opinion some based on fact some not.

The Guimaraes to Arsenal stories came pretty much out of nowhere yesterday but both the first and second bid stories where widely reported by multiple sports journalists including David Ornstein who with all things Arsenal is usually very reliable.

The facts are that Bruno Guimaraes though in great form is 29 years old and is going into the last two years of his contract and if Newcastle value him they should have him in negotiations for a new contract which by all accounts they have not in fact behind the scenes they are supposedly making very strong advances toward Dortmund’s central midfielder Felix Nmecha.

The sensible thing for a club like Newcastle who are in the process of trying to build a club within the games financial rules to compete with the countries established teams would be to sell Guimaraes and Tonali and buy three or four players like Nmecha with the money.

Your concept is correct but “buy 3 or 4 players like Nmecha, with the Sandro/Bruno money?!”. Nmecha is probably worth more than Bruno! Dortmund holding out for £86m. Bruno is a great player and I’d hate us to sell him to one of the Septic 6. At his age though, he’s running out of time to play in the CL, which he’s certainly good enough to do. Big rebuilding summer ahead, which is exactly what NUFC need.

Very pleased to see that Kinsky has signed a new 5+1 year contract. He’s clearly going to be our no. 1 keeper next season and I think he’ll end up as one of the world’s best.

Ridiculously sensationalist journalism with regard to the fateful Champions League defeat to Atletico Madrid. He was roundly reported as having made two costly errors, but they weren’t actually goalkeeping mistakes - they were slips on a pitch that Atleti virtually flooded before the game (a common strategy for them by all accounts). Anyway, onward and upward and I wish him all the luck in the world having bounced back from that night so magnificently.

Well in that case it’s a big mistake buying players in that bracket. The way forward for Newcastle is a slow progressive one invest heavily in your academy.

And that statement sums up the attitude of the septic six who are desperate to keep their gravy train bandwagon rolling on.

True @suzywong . The arrogance is overwhelming. I think the key thing in the Bruno case is what the player thinks. I think Tonali wants to leave. I’m not sure that Bruno does; he loves it up here. Hopefully he’s just angling for a contract extension. We’ll see…

Curiously, the most arrogant of the five/six all play in red………coincidence?

So far, not much movement at the mighty Irons, either in or out.

Contrary to what a lot of media “experts” are saying, I think we may be able to hold on toour best players. Jimmy and Fernandes will go I’m sure, but we’ll be able to get good money for them. Bowen, Taty, Soucek and others might well stay. Jarrod (who has shown, loyal lad that he is, every sign of wanting to stay at West Ham) has a young family and is settled in London, so a move oop north or abroad seems unlikely. And he has the father-in-law to think of too!

Also, although our despised former majority owner has not yet been fully expunged from the club, the pint-sized porn lord (and skinflint) has been effectively neutralised so additional funds might be available from Kretinsky and co.

I expect the team won’t be gutted as many have been saying.

Hah yes

As we Spuds have always said, Arsenal fans are so obnoxious. So superior and cocky. How dare we peasants even try to compete with their demi-God heros  Get back in your place, minions !

And if we do dare to compete, we are damaging the transfer window, paying too much, and should leave and let them have their pick of the top players first (paying British record fees and salaries).

Back in the real world of pocket money spending, I am really pleased that both Clark & Walsh have stayed loyal and signed new contracts instead of jumping ship (which they would be more than entitled to do). Heartening. We have picked up Johnston from Stockport which looks a shrewd move but are still awaiting news on Kasey Palmer coming back to us after his loan spell. Other than that the news is rather slim and I am keen to know more about some of our hangers on/failed experiments that will need to be finding new clubs.
