For every audiophile who cant let good things be

@PeakMan Profile updated.

I do miss the Naim sound so that may be an option.

Life is short, you don’t know what tomorrow brings. Make sure you get the musical feeling you deserve ASAP. In as reasonable a way as you can, of course!

Yes and I take the “It’s all about the music” comments with a grain of salt. Certainly it is for many but not anywhere close to the 100% of people who make the claim.

I’m more inclined to believe someone who’s still rockin’ a thirty year old system and struggles with upgrades because evaluating them takes time from relaxed music listening.

I’d never tell someone they were a liar. Especially because they might not be. But I feel like, “all you lot claiming it’s only about the music, I reckon half of you are full of it. Not sure which half though.” :joy:

I wrote an Ode to Naim back in 2019:

When I was young, I was mute to music.

When I was older, I thought I’d be cute and bought a Qute.

I was awakened.

Then I dreamed of reaching the stars and bought a Star.

The Star was like night and day.

When I was older again, I felt an itch.

The itch had to be scratched, there was a fog in front of the Star and it wasn’t a Nova.

I bought a 282/200. The veil was lifted.

The veil wasn’t lifted.

But the fog had thinned. I bought a 252/300.

The darkness was gone. The veil was truely lifted.

I wasn’t satisfied.

I was almost broke.

It had to be done, 555, 552, 500, a DR they said.

The veil was lifted. I was broke.

SWMBO left the house, I showed her the door. My jaw hit the floor.

I was awakened.

My obsession had finally abated.

Then I heard, “there is a Statement”.

Why try to fix what isn’t broken

Exactly

interesting point, I think there is a simple metric…

It is a bit like owning a Ferrari that one keeps parked and only uses rarely (that could be, maybe those who listen to their hi-fi and evaluate the hi-fi through music)

and then those who use a BMW as their daily driver (those who really listen to music a lot every day)

I listened to music a lot, on a boom box, and now on my Naim system. I am not into this for the hi-fi but I use my Hi-fi to get closer to the music.

Everyone knows which they are. Then there are those who are into hi-fi and the music. and that’s fine also.

I can clearly hear what my vertere cables do (or don’t do) compared to my Chord interconnects.

Does that make me an audiophile - yes

but my purpose of owning Chord and Vertere cables is just to enjoy music more. music first

When I first heard the Bad album from Michael Jackson - sure it sounded great, but now on my Naim system I enjoy nuances, dynamic contracts, rhythms so much more on that album.

So Maybe the Naim owners are those into music ? Of course I can hear that a 552 is a lot better than my 282, but it never stopped my from playing the music and enjoy the songs.

I would be very sad if I ever had to sell my Naim amps (hopefully I never have to), but even if that sad day comes in my life, I will still keep listening to music.

My speaker based system is pretty settled, but the temptation to experiment with different headphones with very different tunings is strong.

I have accumulated three top open backs, so far. The siren call of the Beyerdynamic T1 Ver3 with its huge bass is strong.

There once was a lover of Naim,

Who purchased again and again,

First 2 became 4,

Then so many more,

And now he requires a 3rd fraim!

I can relate to that. I now have accumulated 6 open back over-ears, 1 closed back over-ear and 6 in-ears. It is madness

Just watched the Video by Darko. Spot on. Especially about the BO and rude folks at audio shows!…..

I must admit that if someone says in conversation that they’re ‘an audiophile’, I start looking for a way to smile politely and back away…

Not the case when someone says what bands they like, or indeed loathe. Much more interesting!

Agreed. IMHO I think most folks here are mainly music lovers with some “audiophile” tendencies. I met one real “audiophile” and he was going crazy about his expense electrical grounding setup that an electrician refused to be a part of (not up to code)

What if you wrote if after FW 3.10 had been released

To be an audiophile is to not have a legitimate care in the world.

Or it is to ignore one’s legitimate cares.

One of the above lives a blessed peaceful life. The other is a narcissist.

Persons who have bought an Lp12 in the seventies and who made each upgrades on it when this upgrades appeared are ?
If they are not audiophiles, what are they ?
