French Croix rouge recommends a survival kit for all

The French Croix Rouge, similar to Y Groes Goch Brydeinig ( I found that name on google), recommends since May 2024 that all citizens need to possess a survey kit. Because climatic catastrophes are more and more frequent and important.

Here a picture. Some can learn some French too.

Do you think it’s exaggerated ? Or useful ?

I think that is an ‘emergency’ kit - if my memory of French is still functioning.

I think the English translation is ‘survival kit’. FR

Regardless of the Franglais translations, yes I think the kit is a good idea!

I think you mean a ‘Survival’ kit FR.

One of the very few occasions your excellent command of English has let you down.

Google doesn’t always help. I couldn’t find Red Cross. Thanks. It gave me the Welsh equivalent.
As for survival kit, it’s my french / English translation.

Exactly. Just a poor translation, but everyone understood.

Is it from a movie ?

I have watched it, but so many years ago. It’s probably from 1966 or something like that. I was born

You might want to amend the thread title. It’s “survival” kit, not “survey” kit.

I have always lived with the obligation of a survey kit in my professional life. Having the kit with me and keeping it up to date was also checked regularly. The few times that I needed the survey kit in really dangerous situations, meant a lot. For radio and flashlight I still use devices without batteries but powered by a hand pump. The flashlight dates back to old army stocks (second war stuff) and is indestructible. Eventually it became automatic, partly copied in private life and somewhat more adapted to modern needs.

Thanks for English learning.
By the way, do you have one?

For people living in big cities, away from forrests, sea, or vulcans , and not near rivers, I don’t see how it can be useful.

I understand. But then it’s not survival kit but survival kids.
