Has anyone tried Acrolink cable? I completely forgot I purchased an MCRU ‘The First’ cable many moons ago; but it has been sitting in my drawer unused for a long time since I made my own mains block.
I took it apart to find it uses Acrolink 7N-PC4030, which had been terminated the wrong way round based on their instructions…I have since re-terminated with the copper Furutech connectors it came with and plugged into my NDX2. It is a nice cable and I may add Rhodium connectors (I have two I was planning to sell on ebay; but I am now thinking of keeping to use with this).

So I went ahead and added the FI-50R NCF and FI-1363R NCF to the Acrolink cable. I have it on my 252/SCDR at the moment and I must admit, despite being a cable doubter, I have come full circle again. It sounds really, really nice. A lot more clarity, detail and presence. I do wonder if my humble cabling skills in the early days meant I did not do a very good job of terminating the cables I had. I got this one just right and it sounds fantastic.
My home made cables are still on the rest of my system and I am about to add a powerline to the 300DR so it will be interesting to compare the sound.

Please keep us informed on your results!
I will. I treated myself to a Super Lumina DIN cable this week too (it was pay day…) so I am just getting used to that and I will then try the power line and report back. I highly recommend the Acrolink cable based on the improvements I’ve experienced in the last 48 hours or so. It still costs a few hundred pounds; but that is pretty affordable in the bigger scheme of VERY expensive cables!

I’ve got the Power Line into my 300DR now as well and I have to say it is a noticeable improvement once again. Things sound a lot more relaxed and controlled. I use Synergistic Research purple fuses in my other leads and I have one for the Power Line; but I am going to leave it and wait before putting it in.

I just added the Furutech rhodium connectors to the Acrolink cable with a purple fuse and stuck it on my NDX2. Very impressive results.

I had them sitting in a drawer and was planning to sell them, but I will now keep based on the sound I am getting from my NDX2 with this plugged in.

Sounding good to me, but these were connectors I previously had on other cables so they have been run in already I was talking to David at MCRU and he said the Acrolink cable I’m using and Furutech Rhodium connectors are what he uses at home and in his shop. I have to agree that it sounds very nice. Clear, balanced and with lots of presence.

Which mains cable are you using in your Puritan 156? Maybe you said it before but I can’t find it anymore.

Connectors:

Furutech FI-C15 Slimline IEC Connector Rhodium NCF (GBP70)
Thanks in advance.

Just bear in mind it is a tough cable to terminate. I would recommend seeing if the shop you buy from can terminate for you. MCRU offer this service and normally offer a 10% discount code if you search the internet for it I recently asked them about cable choices and mentioned I was considering either Furutech of Acrolink. They recommended Acrolink.

What was the reasoning to recommend Acrolink over Furutech? I believe you also have experience with S55N and the DPS 4.1 in your set with NCF connectors. What does the Acrolink excel in over the Furutech cables?
Is it the Legenda or the Anniversio that you are using?

Why do you go for the slimline connector? I think the 50NCF IEC is a better partner for the FI-50NCF than the slimline NCF connector.

I suppose a) to save a bit of money and b) would that set up be sufficient bearing in mind the FI-50NCF at the wall end?

It is a fair question. The UK NCF versions of the plug are made of plastic. I’m sure that is due to safety standards here; but I have always wondered about the difference between those and the non-UK versions.

Hi, I do not think it is a question of it excelling over the Furutech cables so much. More a question of it being a very high quality cable that sounds just as good for a lot better price. I have the Acrolink 7N-PC4030 Leggenda on my NDX2 with NCF connectors and another arriving shortly for my SCDR. Powerline on my 300DR and 555DR (when I get an S-XPS to connect it up to my NDX2).
