Agreed. The little things definitely add up. I wanted one of those braces for awhile as my Furutech plug does sag ever so slightly
Question for those with limited rack depth: are there any good 90° angled IEC sockets? Thank you!
There many right angled left and right adapters on Amazon and alike. They are a standard product and not necessarily Hi-Fi related.
DG…
In some cases you can lookup the plug you have and then find they do an angled version if it.
This sometimes means the plug internals can be swapped out without having to re terminate wires.

Just an update on this. The wall sockets are settling down now and sounding really good. The TCS31 with FI48RNCF connectors is a very good combo for my system. I’d highly recommend each of these.
I didn’t keep the DPS4.1 as I felt it didn’t add much to my modest system and the Tchernov was doing a more than satisfactory job already.
“Another thing I quite like is that you can strip them down completely, have good wire clamping and they use hex screws which is nice, they’re basic admittedly but well made.”
It seems to me that it achieves some level of mechanical de-coupling of the pins from the housing which is what the Powerline is supposed to be about?
Looks like Furutech has 3 new products launch at the Munich Audio show:
Hi @marcusman thanks for sharing. It’s interesting that the e-TP609 E NCF- N1 isn’t more expensive than its predecessor, which was on the market for many years. I’m looking forward to seeing the tests and experiences. The Project V1-S Speaker Cable, on the other hand, is 15k – that’s not for me…
It seems easy to get 25% off the list price of their current in-stock items from a DIY retailer around here. Perhaps there are more new products on the horizon?
I’ve noticed that as well. I wasn’t sure if something new was incoming or they are having a really hard time selling their current inventory hence the ease of getting 20-25% off.
Just a small update on the Furutech DSS4.1 speaker cables for anybody who has been waiting for my feedback.
It’s now been a couple of months and although my system has not been used very much I’ve noticed a sudden improvement.
At this moment my 500 series is out of use. So I’m using a Nait 1 and having sold my Harbeth 30.2XD speakers I’m now using Linn Kans. The source devices for analogue, Vertere SG1, Vertere SABRE Dark, SW1X LPUII Special.
For digital - MacBook, ABBAS DDC, SW1X DAC III Balanced.
Both are fed into SW1X PRE III SPECIAL and then the Nait 1 is driving the Linn Kans.
I’ve had this system setup like this for about a month and a half.
As of the last two days (two lucky listening sessions, in actual fact could’ve slowly been changing over the last 2 weeks)there has been an injection of energy and richness to the sound. The flow and engagement of the music has improved noticeably. I can only imagine the cable is now further along in its running in process.
I love the Linn Kans and I think if you accept their limitations these are proper high end speakers. The detail retrieval and speed is silly good. However I wasn’t noticing these qualities as much a few weeks ago.
When I was researching about the DSS4.1 speaker cables, I remember reading that when properly run in, there will be a sudden improvement in the vibrancy of the sound. Almost like a black and white photo turning into colour. I really feel like I’m hearing a more emotive presentation now. I’ve commented on another thread recently that I don’t think the Furutech DSS 4.1 is in a different league to the NAC A5 although it does improve on it.
I still won’t outright say it but if you own a NAC A5 I think the Furutech betters it in every respect. Especially PRAT.
I would love to do a shootout against Chord Music if anybody is interested. I’m quietly confident now.
I would expect that since the the NAC A5 was slightly bettered by the Chord Epic and noticeably bettered by the Signature XL in my system.
It’s interesting that the same burn-in effect with the DPS4.1 carries over to the DSS-4.1 as well. When it happens and you hear the sudden noticeable change, I would imagine it’s a moment of ecstasy for most people who have had this experience.
I had the Chord Epic XL and it did improve on the NAC A5 in some areas. The treble was extended and sweet and it had a fuller bass that reached deeper. However at the time I felt the NAC A5 sounded more LIVE. I couldn’t exactly put my finger on it but the A5 was somehow more engaging. I can no longer say that now with the DPS 4.1. It has that Live characteristic and has better layering of the music and I’m noticing more texture to the sound. The quiet parts in songs are very quiet as well. Overall it creates a delightful listening experience.
On a side note, I remember many years ago when I first auditioned the NAIT 2 at home. The dealer had a promotional pair of speaker ‘wire’ I believe from DH Labs (a prototype, not for sale) They seemed to be copper or copper alloy rods in a plastic tube. They had a rectangular cross section and a gentle twist along their length with flexible short wires for the component connections at both ends. They were very stiff- unpractical really.
He was a friend of mine and he let me try them with the amps I had on hand from various companies including the CB 250 (very cautiously!).
The music flow through these ‘rods’ and my speakers was impressively ‘free’.
I eventually swapped in the NAIT 2 . I could not believe the transformational effect they had on it. Whatever I played sounded so live with much more low level detail in timbre and texture evident, an experience that I would love to have again!
Anyone try the Furutech NCF Clear Line Plug-In RCA?
I’m curious if they are worth a try.
I got a pair of (used) DSS-4.1 as well - I agree, they do have that ‘Joie de Vivre’ yet with a good measure of ‘polish and thunder’!
What I would be interested in as a SL owner is how the DSS-4.1 compares, don’t think we have had any comparisons of those two yet.
Please let me know what other speaker cables have you used before the DSS4.1 and how do they compare. Despite having settled with my system I may consider another additional pair of speaker cable. I have an obsession with costly cables which is not good at all.
I’m using Chord Sarum T at the moment.
FWIW I upgraded from NAC A5 to Chord Epic to Chord Signature XL and finally Sarum T. Every step is an improvement to me. NAC A5 to Epic is a small difference, Epic to Sig XL is a much bigger difference, Sig XL to Sarum T it’s subtle but important differences, and I regard the improvements as worthwhile. It’s the small differences that make all the (big) difference with the Sarum T.
I am not sure the higher end Chords are easily available for home demo around here.
