…next to the IEC socket on Classic boxes, there are two slow-blow fuses, one live, one a spare. Does the fuse holder come out completely and which is the live fuse and which the spare…?
TIA,
Tim

i dont think they come out completely and the live one will be the one nearest the iec pins… To confirm just remove that fuse and see if it powers up…
Well, it’s not powering up, which is why I need to swap the fuse…
Quick fuse question would the lights on the logo and buttons work if a fuse blew?
Nothing will work, the iec live connection is effectively disconnected by the lack of a fuse.
Just pull the fuse holder out until it stops coming and swap the two fuses over, then push it all the way in again. Then after that order some spare fuses from your dealer. These are special slow-blow fuses and you can’t just put a fuse with the same current rating instead.
Phew!!! It was the fuse… Littlefuse 3.15A replacements are on order from CPC Farnell (who charge a £3.32 ‘handling charge’, the chiselling b*stards)…
They have to be slow blow (I think from memory it’s T5). If you have ordered ordinary ones, then they won’t work.
Yes, slow-blow…
Why would they not? Do you think that the staff work for free?
I would make sure they are Naim fuses, this is the one area Naim are very clear on from a safety perspective. You can buy them from Cymbiosis for a nominal fee. I got myself a few spares a while ago so I had them to hand in case anything ever blew
If they are made by the Littel fuse company, T5 and the right amperage as written in the back of the Naim case then they will be fine.

You could always check on the Forum FAQ page where there’s a full explanation of equipment fuses.
More than three nicker to put a couple of fuses in an envelope and bung a stamp on it does seem, shall we say, a trifle ambitious.
According to the website, orders under £30 incur the handling charge. It looks as though this covers postage and packing, but whatever, what’s the point of whingeing about it? Either buy it or don’t buy it. It’s hardly big money.
Because there was a £2.99 postage and packing charge as well…
Ah well, it’s a mere trifle if you can afford a Naim system. You can get the fuses from your dealer for £1 each I believe, but you’ve got to pay to get there of course.
Cymbiosis used to have them on their website, although I don’t recall the prices or postage cost.
Just a quick FYI.
That is where I got mind and costs were nominal.
