Ah, if you see a hedgehog in daylight especially at this time of year it’s in trouble, so what you are describing is very reasonable. any hedgehog seen during daytime is best taken to the vets. Pick them up using an old towel, put them in a bucket, cover the hedgehog with the towel. In other words try to keep the animal out of the light and in the quiet.

They will come out in winter if they know food is available , and I feed the all year round .

Very passionate about them , we need to protect our environment for them and for us.

I have some hedgehog regulars around my home… back garden quite large and have pile rocks one part and large logs (from cut down willow tree) and wildlife taken to it great…
