Help: Lumin into Nds/ no sound

Hi , I received my Lumin U2 mini.
It’s connected to my Nds by BNC ( digital imput from Nds) to Lumin BNC.
I see my Melco library and see Qobuz.
But I have no sound.

I enabled the 3 digital connections before through the Naïm app.

But no sound. I don’t understand.

Have you connected it to the correct BNC on the NDS (i.e. not the bottom one)?

Regards

Neil.

@RonToolsie maybe could you help me?

I’m assuming you’ve enabled the correct SPDIF output settings on the Lumin (and the Digital Audio output is set to on)

I have this on the Lumin app:

That looks correct FR. Have you got a different digital cable you can try to eliminate that as an issue ?

FR, do you have the volume set to max on the Lumin? Does yours use Leedh digital volume control?

Or, you might want volume control off, giving maximum output to the NDS which will then control the volume rather than two volume controls in circuit.

Thats what I do with my Lumin P1 Mini into my SN3.

Yeah, he also has a separate preamp, so nothing like what I use my P1 for. He just needs the Lumin to be a streaming source into the NDS as a Dac, into his EAR preamp.

The NDS, in this configuration, would probably also need to be set for fixed output to allow volume control only by EAR Pre-Amp.

Settings should be checked to ensure all is configured correctly for inputs and outputs of U2 Mini and NDS.

I will try another one, as you say, if my dealer has one tomorrow.
It’s probably the cable.

I ordered this one , a basic cable from Amazon.
Should work ?

I tried both.

Yes

The NDS only has a fixed volume line out, so there is nothing to adjust there. Worth experimenting with the Lumin output levels, though.

FR , I took a few photos of my settings. Have you tried internet radio yet? At the top right of screen you should see a running total of the time you have been listening and far right top is the current volume.

I think it’s a cable problem or a Lumin problem. I click on play on Qobuz or on my local tracks , it’s running, but no sound.
I am waiting now for the cable which will arrive very soon.

Do you have sound using a built in source of the NDS - iradio, or Tidal?

That would help discern whether it’s a problem from device input to NDS or a problem from NDS output to preamp.

I expect you’ve already tested this though? It was just a thought!

Did you check whether you may have accidentally plugged the Lumin into the NDS Digital Out socket (the bottom BNC socket) as per NeilS suggestion?
I don’t think I saw a reply?

When I use my Nds bare, all is ok. I have sound.
But not when the streamer is Lumin.
And yes, I plugged into input on Nds, no output.
