I fully agree. This was precisely my point.
Regarding alignment, have a look at the Schon template/method. Unlike others it actually takes an error margin into account. And we are aligning it by sight after all, so how precise can it get?

Well, I use two magnifying glasses and a mirrored, arc-style, custom manufactured alignment protractor with parallax lines, so hopefully pretty accurate in hangover and offset. Bolts done up with a torque wrench to standard torque too. Suits my engineering outlook on life…
