How many music streaming services are you subscribed to?

To a point, though loudness compression has nothing to do with lossless or lossy, and lossy works better with less full on compression anyway.

I find the psychoacoustic modelling for lossy can get disrupted in your brain with the addition of road noise etc. in essence only high bandwidth lossy sounds good in the car… to me lower bandwidth lossy sounds a lot worse in a car environment. But I find in the car high quality/bandwidth lossy can work well, such as BlueTooth connection playing lossless source material.

I find nearly all ear bud type headphones I have used of limited SQ performance so I would agree the quality of the source material is largely irrelevant… and for me the whole r experience of listening with ear buds is unsatisfying to the point of irritating. I use over ear phones when on the move.

Morning Simon, I see where you’re coming from, and yes you’re 100% correct. I use it mainly in the car, or out about walking, where I have a list of 2.5k favorite albums, I also find it useful for checking out new releases / recommendations from the music thread.

I had Spotify but nowadays I have Qobuz. IMO Qobuz is so much better!

Spotify lossless for me. I was tempted to try Qobuz but in the end wasn’t sure I would hear the difference over Spotify lossless.

You could always use the trial for that and then make up your mind.

Qobuz streaming only. Gave up vinyl and cd’s some time ago as they take up space and seem pointless when there’s a whole world of music discovery that doesn’t have to be flicked through physically. Never have to leave the listening position.

Use it in the car, running, on a plane, on holiday. Transformed the way I listen to music, freed up space at home (wife friendly) and listen to something different every day with great sound quality. What’s not to like.

Agreed but I kept the TT.

When friends come over with their Fav. albums..…good times.

I understand that. There’s something a little more romantic about lending/borrowing an album than suggesting streaming it

We share short tailored playlists sometimes at friend gatherings… very entertaining .. and when the wine has been flowing.. no risks of scratched CDs or a bent stylus….

Very good times are had.. even when the singing starts :joy:

We predominantly use Tidal, but also Apple and Amazon music (both bundled with other things).

SWMBO is very happy she can AirPlay to lounge system, whilst Amazon is useful on the kitchen Echo Show (although I tend to use Tidal via that too).

Just Qobuz with Roon for me. I don’t see the point of piling on and spending money unnecessarily.

Ive done the lossless buds, mobile apps like USB APP, but all require a steady WIFI connection as Qobuz, Tidal API dont allow such access.

Yes my Qobuz > USB Audio Player Pro App > Creative Labs BTW6 > Creative Labs Aurvana Ace 2 - gives a fully lossless path, but overtime i decided the loss of “smart” features from the buds and microphone issues, it jsut wasnt worth the extra pfaff

So 2.

But no Amazon ? You disapointed me
:squinting_face_with_tongue:

My Weiss DAC will eventually support Qobuz Connect. I wouldn’t mind getting rid of Roon if the Quboz UI/UX weren’t so crappy.

Presto Classical, Bandcamp, Qobuz and lossless concerts from Swedish Radio P2.

I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
