Ignore Function

How do you “contact” the individual ?

Other than through an announcement in a post ?

Why would you do that? Anyway, the Forum software doesn’t allow it. Say I wanted to ignore you and told you so. That’s terribly confrontational and aggressive. It’s surely much better to simply ignore someone without telling them. Why hurt them just because you don’t want to read what they write?

I guess I prefer things upfront and honest, I do get your point though.

That is a badge I could wear well.

Your welcome to ignore me, Mark, if you wish. I fully support a person right to ignore and be ignored.

Anyway I don’t feel the need to ignore, you can simply flick past or just not read the thread. Flagging is different, some posts should be flagged, I’ve been (rightly) flagged and learnt from it.

I’ve asked @Richard.Dane this and still waiting on an answer. I thought you could if their email address was public.

There are no publicly viewable email addresses and any attempt to to make an email address public is removed as a matter of policy. Please don’t post your email address on a publicly viewable forum - it’s really not a good idea to do so. thanks.

That’s what I do. Simply scim through the thread and gloss over those posters whose contributions are historically distasteful, confontational, pointless or dull.

It appears people are getting confused about the concept of ignoring people.

If I post my email address on the forum later this evening, I will have ignored Richard.

However, if I had set my preferences to ignore Richard this morning and therefore unable to read his posts, by posting my email address on the forum later this evening, I will NOT have ignored Richard.

I might be responsible for at least the last 2 :rofl:

FC, I’m not sure the forum allows you to ignore me.

I’ve tried on my iPhone, Mac Pro and MacBook Pro and there’s no option to ignore users. Just the option to mute notifications. Very disappointing.

Have you looked under preferences, account, users? I’ve just checked and that’s how I do it on my phone.

As I said in an earlier post, being a Discourse function its availability might be related to the “trust level” you have attained.

Yes Hungryhalibut, it just doesn’t give me the option.

I know Innocent_Bystander, I’m obviously not very trustworthy.

It looks at though it is based on Trust Level, if I read the Discourse post I have linked below correctly then it becomes available at Trust Level member. Maybe being a thinly disguised vampire by name is the issue for the Count.

Maybe it’s because your profile is hidden.

I’ve had a fiddle about - try it now.

Without bothering to start another thread, could anyone tell me why they feel the need to hide their profile (or indeed not including details of their system)?
