I heared it very similar (with nd555). I also like definition, speed and sharp details, but after this was associated with harshness due to … everybody knows it… I need detox with exactly the red wine signature. „Less is more“.

With bass I felt the same. Nds is less articulated but with more weight. I prefer that.

He does not know what he is missing. My comparison was always local streaming only. Therefore it might so close (or simply different) between nds and nd555.

Ok, so I understand more. I suspect that with local you would have a less pronounced difference for speed and immediacy. But only a guess.

NDS is good but I do miss the definition, the speed, the control, the more clear micro level details. NDS is and will always be a lush late evening red wine player. Which is great if you want this. But it feels like NSS 333 + 555PSDR is like a better stylus on your turntable. It digs out more of the information and in a more controlled way. More hours needed and more swapping

You could use a Primare NP5 feeding the NSS 333. That should give you more relaxed presentation.
Have both connected to the Ethernet, swap from one to the other depending on what presentation you want at a particular time. You might find that which one you use is genre dependent.

Very nice pictures! That is some craftsmanship I have one question, is there any way to check if the springs under the brass plates are still fully functional without opening the NDS? I’ve got mine second hand and don’t know if the transit screws were used always when transporting. Everything seems fully functional at least.

I cannot see that being possible. It’s pretty easy to open it but would a spring not be in place then you would not be able to fix it yourself.

Shake it slightly and you need to hear them bumping without touching anything

You will hear a clonky sound when the brass plates move sideways and touch the metal pins that limits sideway movement.

Yes - you do. But when you shake it very careful the brass plate will move without touching.

I thought as you mentioned more swapping, you either hadn’t decided or liked listening to both.
I like chips better than roast potatoes, but I don’t eat chips every day. I like roast potatoes with my roast chicken. Sorry @frenchrooster
