Interconnect Advice

Hi @Rushboy
If you see my picture the phono lead is an EKOS SE-1 T-Kable and as
standard is Mogami 2549.

Lovely fit and finish. :+1:

Okay, can you elaborate on this, while my friend Chatgpt explains that the connection is balanced with a Naim interconnect which carries a balanced signal with Naim’s specific wire scheme.

I fear your friend may have had a few too many beers if he thinks the 272/250 uses balanced connections. They don’t. There may have been some confusion caused by the fact that the 250 and 300 both use XLR connections which are most often found in balanced systems, but that doesn’t alter the fact that this is not the case in Naim Classic and earlier amps.

Thanks very much chaps, will order a set

I know it hallucinates once in a while. Better questioning and the answer then was that Naim runs pseudo-balanced signals including an explanation for the 272 and 250dr. Seems a typical Naim solution.

Pseudo balanced cables are used to connect an unbalanced device to a balanced one. Neither of your Naim devices are balanced. Again, I can only assume that there is a mistaken assumption that the 250 is balanced because it uses XLR which is not the case.

Yes, I think you are right, makes sense. Thanks for the explanation!

And also possibly because the new NAP250 IS balanced.

Quite possibly, although given that Ron has consistently described his as a 250DR that suggests that the I in AI is something of a misnomer.

At least it is true I own a 250dr :joy:.

Hi, is this a din4 to 2 (l/r) xlr? If so, who did you buy this from? I’m keen to go mogami 2549 as well. Thanks in advance.

This cable is RCA to 5-Pin DIN 180°, intended to connect RCA sources to the Naim preamp input. I had it custom made by from Event Horizon and Services in Nashville, TN. You would need to specify them the pinout for your application.

The best interconnects I’ve ever owned were Atlas Elektra XLR’s

They cost a small fortune brand new but picked them up used for a huge saving

I have just sold them as I no longer own an amp (Mark Levinson) that needs them

Time to update your profile methinks.

I think I’ve updated my profile HH

No speakers.
