Interesting TV

I don’t normally like “costume dramas”. Also not particularly a Jane Austin fan, but “The Other Bennet Girl” is something else. Loving it !

Agreed. We finished it last night and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Absolutely loving it as well. I’ve got 2 episodes left and I will very much miss it when it’s done

Just started watching The Pitt on Now/Sky. It’s set in the Emergency Dept of a Pittsburgh hospital and stars Noah Wyle from the original ER. The whole series covers one shift so each episode is just 1 hr in real time. Absolutely gripping stuff and reminds you that there are real problems with access to healthcare all over the place

The Pitt is the most riveting, extraordinary TV I’ve seen in years. It’s so intense that I can’t watch more than one episode a week. I approach each episode with mounting dread, but a, swept up in the drama within minutes. It’s an experience not to be missed.

Watching the return of the Artemis crew and Integrity module, down safely a few minutes ago in the Pacific. Gripping stuff. What a journey!

I thought I’d go back to source and watch ER (via Netflix), which started c.1994/5, and ran for 15 seasons. IIRC, this started out in the UK on C4 at 10pm, I think as it was far more graphic than any drama seen. It still looks fresh for today IMO, and it’s great to watch without adverts – noting the reported bunfight between the producers of The Pitt and the late Michael Crichton’s estate, over the rights to this concept.

I used to love ER and watched it in it’s entirety as it was shown on C4. Looking forward to catching up with The Pitt when time allows.

Picking up a few Korean series on Disney+

“The Worst of Evil” the best so far, but “The Devil Judge” is also great.

We’re absolutely loving this here at Bhoyo Towers. Ella Bruccoleri is wonderful, warm and sympathetic as Mary Bennett, and at this point I think I’d watch Dónal Finn in anything.

Enjoying Blanca on Drama. As with most, depends on your taste. Quirky, we are enjoying the acting, just expressions, little hand movements.

Like the soundtrack as well, even if Shazam has failed to recognise any of the tracks so far.

Couldn’t identify the turntable and the record label seems to be made up.

I’ve just finished watching Detective Hole last night. Typical dark Nordic TV at its best. Sinister to the point of being a bit too real. Powerful script with great scene settings and even better music. So many twists and turns it makes your head spin. Almost as good as the original Danish TV series that still sets the standard for me called ‘The Bridge’.

What made both so good for me was that I was working in Copenhagen when they were filming the bridge, so watching it at home I already knew a lot of the settings. I even have a photo of me on the bridge where the first body is found.

I also worked in Oslo for a while, so recognise a couple of the landmarks used!

Watching the new Masterchef series kick off.

I really feel for any of the hopefuls attempting at some stage making a cream sauce. A slight glance from Grace Dent at it - would surely make it instantly curdle and turn to cheese..

I’m a fan of Grace. I don’t watch Masterchef but I might now she’s in it…

I predict lots of split sauces.

My latest watch is the Netflix Taiwanese drama called ‘the Resurrected’. Fantastic casting, beautifully shot, intellectually demanding and simply riveting. There are just enough clues for you to connect the dots but it jumps backwards and forwards in time, so you have to stay alert and use your brain to work out what is happening. Eventually everything dove-tails superbly but it will have you questioning many moral issues, your enemies and your friendships. It gets five stars from me!

Brilliant recommendation, very gripping, hope these is a season 2

Just finished watching Andre is an idiot, part of the Storyville series on BBC iplayer. It was quite an interesting and tough watch. It revolves around one guy, Andre who at the start of the programme is diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer and decides to document his cancer journey through to his final moments. It was quite a brave decision but is made all the more watchable because of Andre himself: he is quite a character, very funny and alternative one might say and has certainly lived what could be described as a fascinating life. Although it gets quite harrowing, I found it life affirming in a strange way.
