Seakayaker , many thanks for your reply. ![]()
Chris, make sure you have a good strong internet connection. Move the the Mu-Sos closer to the router if necessary. Then try a hard power down on the Mu-Sos. Unplug from the mains, wait a few minutes then re-plug and power up. Make sure the App is up to date. Try re-starting the App.
Hello, I am the owner of a Unitiqute.
I haven’t had internet radio for a few days?
The Iradio folder is empty although I am connected to the internet.
I have done 2 updates since version 8.4 and version 9.4, both versions do nothing, I don’t have internet radio.
I would like you to help me identify the problem.
Should I downgrade to an earlier version? If yes which one?
I am sending you attached photos of the front screen of the device in the hope that they might help.
Which UQ? To answer your question, best to post full details about your streamer, from the about section of the Naim app, when linked to your streamer, together with your location.
Before doing any firmware updates, check the “bc sw” value by using the remote control, press the spanner button and looking through settings.
If it says “3D” you can update to firmware version 4.9.
If it says “1D” or “2D” then it is not compatible with the new iradio service.
This may help;
Richard cheers will try this evening.
I am very glad today as I have been notified M. Clarys from Latham audio has just updated my legacy ND5XS to 4.9 FW at my Naim dealer Cinephil Belgium. Fortunetaly we can rely on the Naim team Professionalism and experience even for one legacy streamer.
Very many thanks for this info and thanks too to Naim for their support.
All done successfully this morning. I now have internet radio back. Excellent.
Hi all, was wondering if or when Naim might be fixing the iradio issue. Presently i have a naimuniti running firmware 4.9.40. I’ve done all of the suggested troubleshoot ideas but still have no iradio. Is this a hardware or software issue? I’d hate to throw my Naim away but I’m terrible disappointed not having all of its functionality. I’m hoping someone might have some other suggestions.
Cheers Don
Don, it’s fixed and Naim have a new in-house radio service up and running, which should avoid the long service outages that have occurred in the past, but that also means that the Vtuner IR service for Naim is no more. See the pinned posts.
Is your Uniti an early one (1D or 2D)? If so, the hardware is too old to run the new in-house Internet Radio service and you’ll need to use another device to get IR to your Uniti. You can read more here, especially the addendum;
For those without the 3D streaming card and therefore unable to use the new Naim Radio service another option is to install LMS on a suitable computer on the network (like a Raspberry Pi). This is controlled by an app like Sqeezer on an Android phone and allows streaming to Naim devices over UPnP. Plug-ins are available for BBC Sounds (including on-demand), Radio Paradise (including the lossless FLAC streams) and RadioNet (which offers loads of stations with a search facility). I have used this for years for BBC Sounds on demand and RP with the legacy streamers and it works pretty well.
There are indeed many alternatives too Naim’s internet service. I don’t understand why Naim even bothered to setup their one internet radio services. ( sorry, this is a cynical remark of 2D Uniti owner)
Regards Gerard
Hello all. Still tenuously in the Naimosphere here with a recently repaired first-gen Unitiqute.
I’d bought this for peanuts since it had a dead screen & a wonky power switch.
No problem living with the dead screen since there’s the app. Power switch swapped out for $60 parts and labour locally.
A minor irritant is not being able to use the internet radio feature. Channels appear but no sound whatsoever.
Solutions?
You need to update to the latest firmware and it will work again.
Before you try to update, you need to find out which version of Unitiqute you have - if it’s an early one it may well not be upgradeable. See this post;
I reckon Naim bothered because of their relative powerlessness whenever there would be a service outage. Think back to Christmas a year or so ago where there was a lengthy service outage and a lot of very unhappy customers. I imagine that Naim decided there and then that they never wanted to be in that situation again so did something about it. Having a radio service in-house that Naim directly control may not have been the easiest or cheapest solution, but I reckon it was by far the best one.
Install the Material Skin plugin and LMS can be controlled with any browser.
But it still means a dependency on one service - this is the weak spot for almost all streamers. AFAIK, only Wiim & Lyrion (LMS) offer more than one radio aggregator.
Ultimately relying on any aggregator that you don’t have direct control over could be considered a weakness.
