Hi Folks,
My Mu-So Gen 1 sits on a chest of draws in my care home room; great for listening position but terrible for vibration. I have nowhere else in the room I can place it. Because I now rely on carers to help me move anything, I am mindful of what and how they lift, especially as the Mu-So weighs 13kgs
I am thinking that am isolation platform with built-in feet would be easier for my carers to put in place than individual pucks.
Because I am largely imobile now I listen to approximately 8hrs of music a day plus audio books. Which is a great comfort to me 
. I have no experience of isolation products and a budget of around ÂŁ100 for a used item. Any advice/suggestions offered by folks here would be most welcome.

The Muso is quite wide, wider than standard Hifi equipment. You may be looking at two platforms to completely support the unit rather than one unless you can find one wide enough. Having said that, it may not matter too much if the sides overhang but I wouldn’t know.
Another thing to consider is the bottom plate of the Muso. Does it have feet? Without wanting to complicate things you may want to consider adding a few damping feet/Sorbothane before you even place it on an isolation platform to further help.
Is it assumed that the chest of drawers is terrible for vibration or do you actually hear things resonating?
The problem description instantly made be think of two things specifically which may be (emphasis on “may”) more pertinent to the problem.
- The Muso stuff sounds vastly different firing into open air versus set back with a flat surface in front if it which makes it sound boxy and muddled. Bringing them forward to within about an inch or less of the edge of the surface is a massive free upgrade.
- If you hear actual resonant vibrations like wood buzzing, an isolation platform likely won’t fix it. Instead, tiny clear rubber bumpers place on the inside of the drawers where they meet the main body of the chest may help. You can usually get a sheet of 50 peel off bumpers for $5 at a hardware store. Usually people use them on the inside of kitchen drawers so they don’t bang shut when closed.
If you’ve tried these things and have a problem, then by all means investigate a platform. But if not, for cost of nearly nothing, I suggest starting with the above.

Have you thought about changing the chest of draws to a more heavier solid design maybe,
… or change care home? We need to get priorities right.

Yes nursing homes/care homes have very flimsy furniture and are not keen on people using there own heavy pieces.

Thanks the Mu-So sits it free space on top of the unit about 1 inch from the front and 8 inches from a partition wall at the back partition wall. I hear and feel the vibrations when I play my heavy stuff like deaf leopard​
. Sadly I don’t think the staff would have the time or inclination to put little pads everywhere. Thanks, J
I am actually waiting for a move of nursing home as sadly I now need a lot more care. I am a bit nervous as much current home has ethernet sockets in its rooms, which work well. This is most unusual. Thanks, J.

You have butcher acoustics platforms. You can choose the dimensions, the colours….and they are not so expensive.

Measurements for Muso I saw were something like 63. 5 cm width 42.5 depth
