More likely it will drown if anything like round here.
I’ve never been entirely sure which is the twelfth day of Christmas (and therefore the civilised day to take tree and decorations down).
Any views ?
5th January. ![]()
A bit of a rarity there, the lovely Pace mountain bike ![]()
It is a beauty, I hardly miss my old full-sus Orange which was a joy to ride and a pig to race (uphills, groan).
I don’t race anymore (was never much good, tbh, nor took it seriously enough) and the Pace is just so much fun I sure don’t miss that aspect of riding.
Was off the bike for a long time after an op, but must get out more this year. The Pace is calling…
Always fancied one, Red anodised, but concluded they were on the small size for my height so went with an XL Cannondale Hardtail with a Headshock. 20 years old and still going strong. That said I’ve never been anything but a trundler & have ridden solely on the road (off-road gave me sciatica) for umpteen years. Ridley Kanzo gravel bike these days but the Pace remains a thing of beauty. Nearest I got was a Pace carbon fork on a Marin ![]()
Are you sitting comfortably?
It depends on whether you think the decorations should be down in time for sunset on the Twelfth Night (the evening of the 5th, going into the 6th) or taken down after the Twelfth Night is over (i.e. on the 6th).
Alternatively, those of us who find January a bit dark and miserable can be persuaded that, although the Feast of Christmas lasts for 12 days, the Season of Christmas can be taken as including Epiphany, thus making a season of 40 days which mirrors Easter. In this model, decorations may be left up until Candlemas on February 2nd. You’re then ready for the Gesima Sundays, when you start getting ready for Lent - another 40 day season!
Personally, I compromise and take the tree and most decorations down on the 6th (if I’ve got time then, otherwise late on the 5th) but leave up something bright and fun until Candlemas - this year, it’s a string of LED lights around the front of the house.
