Hi
I’ve managed to accumulate 224 albums with him sticking it to the rhythm section.
Utter genius must have spent his life in the studio or on stage.

This one recorded on the day of his birthday, if I recall properly…
Joe, Hank Jones,Milt Hinton,John Cresci.
Beautifully played and offering the taste of an excellent monochrome tv series that is in pristine condition on YouTube.
Many jazz musicians of the time play at Mothers.

On Qobuz but as I now have a sparkly new cd player I shall buy a copy from Proper.
@Ian @Skeptikal @Nick1940 stunning recommendations on Arnett Cobb. I know them all and listen to them regularly. For some reason his music suites this time of the year very well: “easy going but with finesse”. I have some days of, so “easy going” as well
Iver
I guess a have a fair number of albums with him on bass as well - though nowhere near 224
But I have to say that it’s the first time I came across one of his own albums, which is why I didn’t even think twice before paying for it.

I have been trying to get Joe Harley to put this in the queue for a Tone Poet release. I hope that happens. It’s a great album.
I was at the Hammersmith Odeon for their U.K. performance.
Couple of us got a job (no pay) selling programmes and being ice cream girls during the interval.
I did. Very good playing, some favourite melodies and a superb recording.
Just Listen is a sub-label of Channel Classics, who do superb Classical recordings. Jared Sachs is the owner and recording engineer. Worth checking out their output too if you like Classical
I don’t but thanks anyway.
Another couple of old timer tenors for you.
Magical Freddie beautifully captured.
Sweets and Budd left ear. Terry and Lock right ear.
