Described in this thread as “a wonderful new old fashioned jazz singer”.
And none the worse for that.

One of my first jazz albums, bought around 1963. Re-released on vinyl.

Yusef Lateef – Eastern Sounds

A couple of nearly forgotten alto stars.

Boots Mussuli

He features as Boston based sideman on the Serge Chalof box set I purchased.
I suppose a swing musician but the inspiration of Charlie Parker is not far away. On Qobuz.

Charlie Mariano

Another Serge Bostonian

He eventually moved on to more exotic sounds like Yusef. He could have run a whole ECM sub label. But that’s not for me.

Here we have a handsome WestCoast session with stars of the day.On Qobuz.

Just released
Very recommended; loe this album

Been listening to some of the albums you posted.

Have listened to Charlie Hadden a while now and like his bass playing and so far enjoying Hampton Hawes.

Great and rare recording session in Paris. But I don’t like how it has been mixed up. To my ears Kenny Clarke is sometimes too dominant with his drums. His beat almost hurts a bit at some points of the recording,

I am not familiar with the recording nor can I find it on Qobuz.

It would be unthinkable that such a distinguished drummer was at fault. Is it not more likely to be either venue or recording engineer?
