Joni Mitchell

What’s your favourite Joni album?
Mine changes but at the moment it’s Turbulent Indigo.

For me, Blue has to take the proverbial biscuit. There are just so many wonderful songs.

I go between Blue and Hejira, depending on my mood.

It’s got to be Clouds for me.

So many to choose, but possibly Mingus or Hissing of the Summer Lawns, but oh what about Court & Spark, Hejira and Don Juan’s Reckless Daughter! Thank goodness it’s only a thread and I don’t really need to put one above so many great others.

Will give that another good listen.

Good choices.

For me, Court and Spark, Hejira and Shine (the track Shine is beautiful).

I’m afraid I’ve never got on with Joni having bought few of her albums along the way feeling I must be missing out. However, i’ve just ordered the lp of the live at Newport album after couple of listens on Qobuz… a wonderful and very touching album. I’ll be sure to give some of the favourites mentioned here a listen - the wonders of streaming…

All the albums mentioned are excellent.

We also dip into both Archive box sets (well over 200 tracks in total, many live).

At a push I’d pick Blue if I had to settle on one album, but it’s a very close call and mood dependant.

Court and Spark. What a talent she is.

Blue, followed closely by For The Roses.

Just one? That would be Hejira, closely followed by
Shadows and Light
Turbulent Indigo
Court and Spark
The Hissing of Summer Lawns
Blue

There’s really no question here.
Blue of course.

On of the greatest albums of popular music.

I’ve listened to it several times and it’s a lovely album.

Hejira for me, for my taste the one where her poetic genius reached its full flowering, lines and couplets that capture a person, moment or scene as succinctly as the greatest haikus, with great settings and a band of all the talents.
But (again for my taste) it was the greatest of a series of around 8 masterworks she created over a bit under a decade. ( And some stunning later albums.)

The last one I listened to…:man_shrugging:t2:
…and seeing as I listen to Joni all the time, it is forever changing. At the moment it is the new Live in Newport “Joni Jam”
It will probably change tomorrow though😉

Mingus and Don Juan’s Reckless Daughter. Don’t like the twee early folky stuff like Blue.
