Life After Naim

Hi Amer
Whilst I haven’t tried the Witch Hat Morgana cables I tried a long list of non Naim cables both i/c and speaker ranging from home mades costing a few pounds up to i/c’s that cost almost £1,000.

I really, really invested time, effort and cash into Naim and whilst I got to own some fantastic products the combination of Naim, Dynaudio and my room which is quite small at about 16m2 just didn’t work for me.

I will add though my Hifi fund at the end of my Naim adventure was quite a bit larger than what I’d put into it and so after I bought my current set up which cost me less than one of those cables we decided to invest the rest of the money into our future.

So as you can see it’s a story with a happy ending.

Think you may add Pass Int to the class A team as well, even the smallest integrated amp got rave tests here!

And I’d still own my Nat 01 if I could get more the Radio 3 on it even with a proper arial that little Olive box sounded fantastic.

Had a Satellite Dish installer come and install a proper VHF aerial .

I have always taken radio as a source , and it has been invaluable during the Lockdown

Prior to getting the Luxman, my dealer recommended the Pass Labs Int-60 and I was tempted to try it although the price is slightly above my budget. I did look at the Class A INT-25 but was a bit concerned with the low power output 25W.

Yes, the Pass INT-25 is another worthy consideration. From what I was told, the house sound of the Pass Labs is quite different from the Luxman. Amp selection will be dependent on taste and preference apart from matching to speakers.

If I had to change the whole system and go for something different, I’d probably choose the following 2 boxes combo from Soulution:

Have you heard it in your house?

No, but auditionned that combo with my speakers. It sounds gorgeous!

Different from Naim’s 500 series presentation.

Both systems are exceptional, of course.

But I’d say the Soulution is better.

Key problem is it sounds different.

IMHO I would want to live with it for some time then switch back and see if I missed it.

If you have been happy enough with Naim to end up at 500 level something different is a big risk.

But it might just be too hot today to think about anything.

Not so different in fact. At this level, both systems are brilliant. Two different approaches.

The DAC costs roughy 70k? Wow…

Swiss hifi made for Swiss bankers.

Joking of course… but then not completely.

£70,000 for a Dac you can buy a three bedroom house for that in Spain. I’m sorry but that cannot be justified in any way I’d be very interested to know how much it costs to build.

Come on. You can’t take it with you

No you can’t but I can think of a few better ways of spending £70,000.

No, that’s a bit exagerated😉

55-60k euros for the DAC and roughly the same for the amp

Can I buy a new Porsche 911 for a 120,000 euros?? Maybe even including the Burmeister Audio system! Oh and make it a Targa 4S…

Oh ok in that case I’ll take one. :grinning:

If you offer, make it two
