I seem to have missed the bit where Llamas entered the fray.

How come your dogs are pretending to be lamas.

Richard, which model of intergated amps from black range is your favorite ? Or if you could list top 3 best intergated for you. What is the gap between them and why you like them. Hope not create too much of the trouble to answer.

Andre, my experience of the recent integrated amps is very limited, so hard for me to say; my experience covers only the NAIT 5, 5i, 5i, and the Supernait. I particularly like the original 5 because itā€™s so flexible, sounds great (especially with a Flatcap2) and is relatively cheap to buy these days. The modern successor to this is likely the NAIT XS/XS2/XS3.

Thank you Richard and sorry cannot hold back myself from another question. Which line of Naim (Bolted, Crome, Olive, Black) is your favorite ? Iā€™ve not had chance to hear to any except black and from your previous posts have a feeling my taste could be similar to yours.

Andre, the best sound is undoubtedly what I currently have from my Classic/Reference system, but if I have a particular soft spot for an earlier Naim era then it would be unquestionably the Chrome Bumper period. Itā€™s when Naim really came of age and was the period when Naim first came onto my own personal radar. If you wanted to try some Chrome Bumper kit then I reckon the NAC42/42.5 with a NAP110 is as good a place as any to start; who knows, for some it may even be a great place to end up too.

The world has never been short of despots but Iā€™m struggling to think of a soft one.

Hi Bongoman, Any news

The Exposure 5010s went back at the weekend. I found the Exposures very neutral and a good match with my Marten Duke speakers. They do have a different presentation to Naim and I missed the top end detail with the 552/300DR. No decisions as yet. Iā€™m considering other amps as soon as I can arrange some demos.

Exposure MCX pre-amp has been praised to be very good. Better for some than the 252/SC.

Yes I was aware of the difference when put my naim amps back in to my system and have spent a lot of time listening to the naims post exposure, I am going to have another listen to the exposures at the dealers as i canā€™t decide if they had a more honest top end and the naims are a bit hyped or the other way round, but i do miss the control they have. happy hunting

bongoman, I appologize if you already mantioned earlier, but why you want to move from Naim ? What you are missing or too much with Naim ?

Thanks for asking @Andre1

I changed listening rooms and speakers earlier this year so Iā€™m now looking to get the system and room back in balance. I expect to be staying with Naim for my main source (NDX2) but my new Marten Duke 2 speakers are not proving to be a great match with my 552/300R. They are a very efficient and revealing 4 ohm speaker and coupled with my amps the sound is very forward and full on. The Exposure amps are more neutral and more of an easy listen, albeit at the expense of detail at the top end and bass control.

Swapping out the 300DR with a 250DR could work although Iā€™d lose out on detail on low level listening. In any case, Iā€™m interested in hearing how other non-Naim amps sound with the Martens.

If all else fails Iā€™ll move on from the Martens or keep them for a second non-Naim system

Thanks for clarification ! I also had once the case when change one ingredient of the system caused whole triggered the all system rearrange.
Good luck to get to the new point !
