Linn Lp12

Interesting… My LP12 is much older - and currently has the Steel Cirkus sub-chassis (fitted with Cirkus mod kit). I am being advised by a well known Leicestershire dealer, that I should skip the Majik sub-chassis and go for a Kore…??

But… I already have a Lingo - recently serviced.

from my experience the TA Phoenix is more aimed at buyers who are looking for an alternative to Keel, it is more expensive than the Kore by some margin I think the price is around £1, 800 and Kore is half that price

having done an extensive demo on Phoenix vs Keel, I much preffered the Keel but as ever it’s customer choice and moreover customer ££££

however the Stiletto is something of a muscial master peace

I replaced my steel Cirkus subchassis with an “inexpensive” 3rd party subchassis about 18 months ago. I don’t know how good or bad it is in relation to Linn options. However it was a major upgrade, massive increase in resolution, so I concluded that the Cirkus Steel chassis is not great.

I recently upgraded from Cirkus to Kore, Karousel (and Trampolin). A major step forward, though I don’t know what the contribution of each is.

@Collywobbles and @Ravvie - thanks for your inputs. I am still minded to go Kore. I am not going Karousel - its too much £££’s for me… (and I only went Cirkus around 4 years ago…)

I managed to get an ex-demo TA Plateau for not much more than a new Kore and it’s sublime. Highly recommend if you can find one.

‘New’… do not understand this word… I rarely, if ever, buy ‘new’… :slightly_smiling_face:

The Tangerine Plateau originally was offered with a machined armboard. The armboard bolts to the machined subchassis and was offered in a Linn pattern (with integral arm collar), Rega (never seen one), Aro, SME and a couple of specials for Morch.

Since Tangerine launched the new all one piece Phoenix (to get on par with Keel), the still offer the Plateau but no longer do the machined armboards so that you use a Plateau sub-chassis with a regular Linn laminate armboard. It is of course a good bit cheaper too so that it competes with Kore.

Hello, I obviously am very interested in all the input from all of you who undoubtedly have far more experience than myself with linn turntables, I have been looking at cost effective upgrades and must say I tend to agree with fordy the difference between a majik and kore isn’t that great which as I keep saying poss down to the armboard material, unless anybody knows differently the actual sub chassis is identical, I believe Linn are missing a potential market for the majik upgrade with not making the solid armboard available.

From pictures I have seen, I think ‘very similar’ applies (Magik vs Kore). If not identical…

The Majik s-c is listed as £330 (plus laminate armboard at £43), the Kore is £800 (inc machined armboard) - both ‘new’…

Hello yes however that’s the old price the kore is now £912 or thereabouts the majik is still less than 50% add a couple of hundred for solid armboard upgrade and I would imagine a lot more people would go for that option.

Any views or experience with this new arm suited to the LP12 called the Supatrac

Actually thinking about this that makes the factory armboard and fitting £500 that’s in my opinion extortionate even by Linns standards, am I the only one to think this, I fully understand the ethos behind the continuing upgrade path just the costs seem excessive, thank goodness Naim last a lifetime with reasonable service costs.

Thats a big increase - since only September’21…

Just dropped my deck in for a karosel Tkable and a DV20x2. I was adamant I wasn’t going to go from Majik to Kore as I didn’t see there would be that much difference. Dealer then offered a s/h kore for £500. Only had to look at my wife and she said yes if you must :grinning::grinning:

Hello, I would do lottery tonight, some people have all the luck, don’t forget to ask for your majik back it’s a good bet it will sell on that well known auction site.

Yes I’m glad you are getting it back, I wonder how the dealer happened to come across a used kore regards.

PX on a Keel last week. Luckily for me I was got first offer.

If you’ve auditioned the two back to back then this is the truth for you. Be content with your decision. There are many paths to the truth!
