Listening chairs, Positive Feedback review

An interesting review here on the listening chairs. I will move home in January, so I am wondering.

Maybe a different chair for a different genre?

It probably depends on whether you subscribe to the ‘you are there’ or ‘they are here’ school too

For that experience you need a second chair placed in front of you at such a distance that the leg-room causes cramp after about an hour.

Can you explain more? I don’t figure how a chair may change the impression of being at a concert, it depends more of the distance of the listening place and how is the room.

You are there

I learned two terms from that review: Pantropy and terraforming.
I feel I prefer the pantropycal approach for listening. Those liking Eames kind of chair are more in the terraforming spirit.

A chair with headrest as high or higher than your ears and more than a very few cm each side wider than your head is likely to modify the sound, and likely not in a good way unless you sit close to the back wall and headrest less acoustically reflective than the wall.

Have an Eames EA208 in my office, made by Vitra in the 80’s

Would love an original Miller manufactured Eames Lounge Chair & Ottoman, but hard to find and expensive.
So just a leather couch, now just over 1.5m from the Hifi racks and speakers, forming a shallow isosceles triangle configuration - speakers over 2m apart, 1m from the speaker fronts away from the backwall, but closer to the side walls.

I have this chair
they are very, very comfortable but depending on your length, you may want to opt for the larger size.

Also, there’s quite a large secondhand market but beware the fakes!

I have a leather sofa but will change for non leather, fabric one.
2 reasons: on winter, the sofa is cold. I have to cover it.
Then, for acoustic characteristics, a fabric absorbs better the bass .

I will share in January, at my new home.

It was a joke, because when you stand, you are like in concert , „you are there”. See the AndyR post above

I wasn’t referring to the post of yours before mine, rather it was a general point about seats, prompted by the picture in your opening post!

Yes, I agree. Who will listen to his music standing like ?

I think you have it worked out. And @Eoink is exactly right

I used to have a couple of those - so comfy.

It was a bad joke.
I am just moving house ( « déménager « in French). Relocating.
