Magico Speakers with Naim

Well Thomas, some of us have had to skimp on the speaker side of our systems :sweat_smile: but do keep us up to date with the M2s :+1:t3: Best Peter

Tempted Peter? I could certainly understand why, so will just win tomorrow’s lottery first :joy:

Are there any A1 owners on the forum?

It’s on a very short list of potential candidates to replace my SF Guarneri’s in the future.

I don’t own them but heard them when auditioning the S3kII and M2. Quite impressive for such small speakers. Be aware you need to buy the matching stands as well.

Yes, I know. And for me, that is a downside from the A1. Magico doesn’t have stands to go with them. The massive stands from Sound Anchors are said to be the best but they’re not exactly pretty imo.

The likes of Sonus Faber, Marten or even B&W do a much better job here.

These are the stands I saw at the dealer’s. Very nice match!

Does this mean that YOU are winning and buying me a nice pair my dear friend? :hugs::pray: You are just the best Peter

Indeed Peter, it’s all about the bulk buy discounts…

Best regards, BF

It brings to mind the times we are just smitten completely over with a system’s sonics - which stands the test of time and becomes a mental reference for us right till today. I had that just twice in my audiophile life. You just remember that special sound and can’t shake it off mind when you hear another system. Always a nice ā€œproblemā€ for me… till the withdrawal symptoms arrive even long after that fateful listening session, while the bank account is still … how should I put it… deficient from all other ongoing commitments.

I like the insidious poisoning sessions here… ha ha

Thanks Thomas for starting a lovely thread and to all for a thoroughly interesting read.

I’ve been a fan of sealed box bass, over ported bass anytime. Tighter, better damped, deeper, and without the boom. Even the biggest, baddest ported speakers would boom some. Could be room, could be amplifier matching… but I seldom found the bass satisfactory.

I could never get ported bass speakers to sound good in my room, despite room treatment and careful set-up. It got me thinking perhaps my room just sucked huge time… till I tried the SBLs… It’s what got me hooked to sealed box speakers. That DBL bass… The former was just so much better suited to a smaller room even though it could sound great in a medium space.

Curious about the Magicos and will try and have a listen.

Catching up with this thread. Just wanted to add that Constellation amps are also wonderful match for Magico. A slightly different presentation from the Soulution, which some may prefer.

I actually have the Magico A1 - absolutely love them! No Naim gear yet so not sure how they will sound together, but definitely loves my Pass Labs XA30.8 class A power
