Cracking and informative post

I reduced my box count and now my audio system plugs directly into a wall socket.

I can’t do this with my AV so now have a Titan box which does an exceptional job . Whilst the pandemic was on , I bought as an almost afterthought a power line for my Sky Box, not only did it improve the sound it also improved the picture as well

@Skeptikal thanks,
While I have your attention,
Want to make my own power leads,
What would your recommendation be for a c13 plug,
Thanks

Was also given this,

Let’s take a look inside this one,
WOW now this is a proper job,

I’ve disconnected the power light,
Added a new fuse,
METAL v PLASTIC comparison test to follow,

Yes the Olson power dist strips are well made items ---- ‘proper job’

Re C13 plug question
I use Martin Kaiser 794 IEC plugs on some cables, you can get copper, rhodium, silver & gold plated versions from various vendors.

I would certainly treat yourself to a new plug as it looks like it needs to be re-wired.

I can’t understand, why there is both IEC cables and UK sockets on it.

How did he use it?

@DiggyGun thanks for advise,
Plug looks fine,
much better quality then the white ones,
I’ll clean the 3 pins up to get a better contact,
It should be fine,
They don’t make them like they used too, even the mains lead it thick,
Might not fit in a modern plug

The naim leads powered the naim kit x 7
Sockets for
Turntable
tape deck
Reel to reel
Cd player,
And 2 spare just in case🤣
Was also wired to dedicated mains

MSHD make plugs that take large diameter cable, which I use.

Good quality too.

Ohhhh they are nice,
What’s the price tho?

@DiggyGun What’s the black wire connected to the earth?
Is that from your turntable?

It could be a drain wire from the cable shield ( if it is a shielded cable)

It’s actually a Chord cable and it is a drain wire connected only at the plug end.

It is a standard power cord that I used to own.

They start from about £40.

Does that include the fuse?
Or is it a separate purchase?

Yes, comes with a 13A fuse, which matches whichever plating you go for.

I use silver on mine, but they also do plain Brass, Gold and Rhodium.

All those spare Naim leads look like they are from the era when Pirelli flex was in use which is, apparently, desirable.

Slim chances of getting the Crabtree plugs (unless you were given a box of those too) but some MK plugs on the end would do the job.
