@Crafty I don’t think Rega makes a MM With removable stylus. Also if I wanted to remain with MM, I would not have gotten the NVCTT.
A quick look on Rega’s website shows that they have six MMs
Crafty
I think the issue is the removable stylus constraint, the new Rega MMs, their ND range, don’t have “user serviceable” stylusesess (sorry
). If/as/when you need a new stylus for a ND cartridge, it’s an exchange deal just like most/all MC
When I had an LP12 I eventually ended up with a MC. Wished that I had kept with the MM though.
Crafty
Thanks for the clarification, I did not know that.
Crafty
I’m pretty sure the NVCTT can be configured to use either MM or MC. Regardless with your stunning new 332 Preamp you’ll need a phono-stage unlike your previous SN3 that only has a built-in MM stage.
BTW I can’t wait to read about your new TT when it’s all up and running…. Amazing system you have put together.
NVCTT accepts MM. But agree, if you wanted just MM the NVCTT may not have been the best use of the money.
Should I use the power cord that comes with the P10? An Isotek power cord ? Or an upscale Rega power cord?
I would.
Should? You should nothing. It’s personal and there are thousands of power cords brands. Try Isotek, why not. The uplift is minimal, i have a much better cable than the stock one.
I checked with my dealer who did not know whether the P10 would benefit from an improved power cord. I just got off the phone with Sound Organization. They felt there would not be much of a difference.
Well there’s only one way to find out, can’t your dealer bring a couple over to swap around? In my experience changing the standard lead that came with my Vertere PSU for a Naim Powerline really improved things, but like you fiddling around changing things behind the system is physically challenging for me. But I have tried a couple of other leads including a Chord Sarum but I found the Naim PL the best. But for now I wouldn’t do anything, just play lots of records!
@LindsayM i can only do this when the tech is there, which will be tomorrow.
Agreed. Play music on your new TT. Get used to it and the sound etc, then speak with your dealer. Get a baseline on SQ first before making more changes.
I just looked I am using a Regs Ref power cord on my P9 power supply.
Sure, that makes sense. I know next to nothing about Rega turntables, but doesn’t your new TT come with a Power Cord? I’d use whatever is in the box at first then swap your previous cable P9 for a comparison.
Regardless I look forward to reading about your experience with the P10 as I’m looking to return to playing Vinyl someday soon I hope.
@marcusman I just spoke to my dealer. The Rega Reference power cord is currently connected to the P9 power supply. Since I already have it, the dealer now says I should continue to use it. TT will be installed Friday.
I’ve had a few of these. They are among the few fair priced, so called High End power cords, out there.
Rega has never gone mad with any of their cables, their interconnect is basically identical to those used in record studios, excellent performance at very reasonable price.
Not popular among audiophiles, maybe they are too cheap ?
@PerF This is the only Regs component I have. I will continue to use the Reference power cord on the P10 power supply. Otherwise I use the Isotek power cables with their Sigma V5 power management unit
Great. What’s next to worry about, or are we sorted now?
