My NAT01 has been back into business after serviced by a local technician.
What aerial are you using with your NAT 01, Banditā¦?
Iām using only an indoor aerial by Terk. It isnāt a proper one but work fine.
Thanks, Banditā¦ I live 12km from the Wenvoe FM transmitter, so this might do. I ordered from Amazon USA (Ā£35)ā¦ it was Ā£65 on Amazon UK!!!
Thank you Tim for your advice. By the way, I cannot see what you mentioned. It may be removed. Thanks anyway.
Those knobs are made by Shin Chin or Davies Moulding (I assume one copied the other) and have the huge appeal of being under Ā£1 in 100s or Ā£1.50 in singles. I donāt expect there will be a rush for them, but they can be found at Mouser.
Have you a part number please thanks

Wow that was a quick response
Thank you
The factoryās stocks are exhausted now, AFAIK. However, they do appear on eBay fairly regularly. Otherwise Iāve seen some 3D printed ones that could do in a pinch, but really originals so look much better.
It was a bit of a fluke. Iām working on an amp and had been looking to see what knobs are out there beside the Kilo ones, and Iād seen these a couple of pages back so it was easy. There is a cheaper version of these which come in at about 88p IIRC though I donāt remember whether they were smaller at 3/4". But if you do a search there for just āknobsā in general (sorted to cheapest first) they are on Page 1 somewhere near the top. The others are on Page 3.
(Iām hovering a few pages further on looking at what Apem have to offer. Browsing catalogues is Heaven!)
The top one with the fluted DIN is definitely mid '80s ('85 and earlier). I know this because Iāve got one of those with Steve Morrisās signature on it. He was at Grahams around then.
These things multiply! After buying a 42.5/110 a month ago I half kept an eye out for a āmatchingā HiCap. After about a week one only turned up on eBay within 100 of the serial numbers of my pre/power! The 42.5 and 110 are with Class A being serviced, so no chance to listen to it all together yet.
I wasnāt quite prepared for the weight of a HiCap, heavy little things arenāt they!?
Yes, they are. Comparatively, I recall the SNAPS (which I owned, before getting my HiCap - in 1986) being a mere lightweight.
Yours looks to be a very nice, clean exampleā¦
It does look pretty tidy, hereās the rear:
One of the front corners of the faceplate is a bit bent, but other than that Iām happy! No service information, so will have that done soon.
Might try it powering my XS3 in the meantime, just a bit wary of drawing conclusions in that context if itās never been looked at.
Medium term plan is to properly evaluate my XS3 against the CB set, plus give the XS3/42.5 combination a try. My impressions of the 42.5/110 already had the XS3 in second place though!
Hicap/42.5/XS3 should be the winner.
I reckon 42.5/HC/110
Also I have used black Snaicās
Rather than the grey leads with latching pins,
They do not lock But just rest on the pins,
After advise on here, and naim support,
But it works,
Just donāt move the boxes when powered up,
Thanks @bruss @GrumpyOLDvinylJUNKY - I think Iāll do a thread on the process once the boxes are all back from service. Itāll be quite a change for me as I was fairly sure my XS3 was going to be a long term choice, pending any New Classic NAIT releases. The difference the 42.5/110 made was really lovely, and took me totally by surprise.
Theyāre very coherent, conveying the musical message very clearly. They make modern gear sound one step further away from the music to my ears, although theyāre not as refined or detailed.
No doubt you will enjoy the benefits the HICAP brings straight off the bat, but I would also try without in a couple of months and see how you get on. Personally, I donāt find it as coherent or times as well as originally designed, although most members donāt experience it like that. Prefer 62/140 with a HICAP though. Same story with original IC verses modern Naim black SNAIC, prefer the original.
That one looks super. Canāt see the bend you mention.
