That would likely account for the store room at Vince Ross’ shop that was stacked high with old LP12s and Naim BD and CB kit that he’d taken back in part exchange. I only got a brief look but it was quite a treasure trove!
Nice to read some of the Australian hifi history up there ^^ 8)
Yeah, interesting and heart warming to know there are definitely kindred spirits out there …
It’s a stylised ‘N’ and ‘A’…
Anyone tried the new range of Rega Nd cartridges with 322 cards and CB amps?
Anyone know if they should be a good match or not?
Currently using Audio Technica VM95EN which I find to be a good match.
Not all cb but decorating means that I have a lot of kit all stored in one room at the mo.
There is more cb but in use in the bedrooms, DR’d CbHicap/42/250 and a Hicap dr/62/140.
This thread has been a subtle, but persistent influence for sure. CB 42.5/110/HC is my setup now. Moved from an XS3. No regrets at all ![]()
Good move! I found mthe CB Nait 2 far better than an XS3 to my ears.
Put them in the main system ![]()
My speakers are not compatible with them (active atc’s) and i don’t have anywhere to store them. So planning to set up the naim in an upstairs room with my old royd edens.
I see,great Royd Eden’s are superb,I had a active pair with Snaxo and 2x Naim Nap 120 .
I had an XS with a DR-ed FlatCap2 (I know, I shouldn’t mention it…) and am now perfectly happy with a 62/90 into the IBLs. A SNAPS to be dual-railed is on its way. I am a SNAPS fan rather than a HiCap one.
I’m trying not to think about a 62. I’d dearly like to keep the 42.5/110 together, I suspect they were bought as a pair. I have 3 sources (I use an external phono stage and want to keep the BNC plugs and MM cards as original), so have to fiddle with DINs every time I want to play a CD X) A 62 would be the perfect solution though!
What do you like about the SNAPS vs HiCap?
Can always get straight through boards
Swap out the phono,
I have been able to do a direct comparison years ago, with a SuperNait. The SNAPS has a simpler circuit but the same Holden&Fisher transformer as the NAP 110 and in general I remember a less ‘hefty’ but more refined, ‘analogue’ presentation. Maybe a HiCap is just right for the SN but the SNAPS sounds perfect for the 62 (or a 42) to me, especially with LPs. Enjoy!
Aye, thank you, I am doing, it sounds really very good, and looks great! Enjoy yours too Max ![]()
