Richard, was it inappropriate to ask for the name of the shop? I wasnât sure
Strictly according to forum rules, yes. Otherwise itâs too open to abuse.
Okay, understood
The 62 140 is still boxed. I was reading in a older review ,Stereophile Magazine , originally published in February 01 1991 and again in June 09 2016. The review indicated that in order are complete the 62 140 that the hicap was required for complete system. I found myself compelled 2 add the hicap and recently found one that had been serviced at the factory in March of this year. Iâll be receiving the unit in the next couple days and will add to this post. I would also recommend that you read the review (Google) which was beautifully written and pays the highest of compliments 2 Naim and its employees.
I took delivery of a CB 62 today. It sounds great and looks like it was kept in a time capsule.
What do folks use to spiff up the chrome bumper? Steel wool? I tried Windex wipes but didnât make much progress.
I removed the case and used autosol on my hicap as did not want to remove the original machine marks
Chrome Bumper 62/140 HiCap and Atom still doing its thing. Really enjoying every minute with these canât ever see myself changing system does everything I need
Richard, I would like to ask the following question. If a member was attempting to locate a vintage C Bumper or Olive unit and the unit was being offered by a bonafide Naim longstanding dealer and identified by the factorty website why would this be objectionable? Especially when the vintage equiptment was recently sent back to Naim and (March 2020) refurbished at the Naim factory. I hope youâll agree.
Iâd suggest a step even beyond that.
If Naim had a link on their home page to approved Naim dealers who carried used Naim equipment, it might generate more part ex stock to come in against new sales.
Little bit like the car manufacturers web sites and approved used stock.
Gordon, pointing members towards kit for sale is wide open to abuse. The forum is kept free of sales and of commercial interest so itâs as clean and safe as possible.
I think thats is correct for an open forum otherwise it becomes too difficult to police who/ what is genuine. If Naim had control of a link to their own dealers it takes away that necessity.
The point I was trying to make is supported by information listed at the bottom of the Forum Page. Their you will find informational headings for products, customer support and contact information. I dont see how echoing information reflected from this site circumvents any rules.
Nice clean looking speakers. Canât zoom on enough to read what they are thoughâŚ
The speakers are Harbeth P3esr work very well in a small room
I usually have a NAIT 2 in this system, but because of imbalance in the volume it is in its way to Salisbury. I got to borrow this recapped NAIT 1 instead. I also moved the lp12 from second floor. It plays extraordinarily good. So coherent and tuneful, its a joy!
F
Nice looking Nait 1 too - shame you canât keep it.
Are they Arcs? I couldnât get on with Larcs and their metal dome tweeter. Does the Arc have metal dome tweeter as well?
Quick question for CB owners that have had their pre-amps serviced. I wouldnât consider running power amps too long without a service but preamps are different. Iâve compared my 32.5 and 42.5 directly to unserviced units and also taken one of the 42.5s through the upgrade process so heard it before and after.
Overall, I prefer them serviced (thankfully) but not convinced itâs an entirely one-way street. Serviced are more tuneful and well rounded. However, there is also something the unserviced amps do better. Not entirely sure what it is - snappier timing perhaps. They seem more hardcore. What do other members think?
I think it varies from one example to the next. Certainly the old shoe-box pre-amps can tend to sound a bit dry and wiry after a while if left unserviced. Servicing tends to restore flesh to the bones and more sustain to the music.
Yeah, that description fits my experiences too.
