9 x 135 I’m using them in a home cinema set up the three subs have separate 500 W high current amps as well so quite a lot of headroom
Timeless aesthetics
Wow.
I’m hoping to end up with 6 x NAP 250s (active), driving split briks… just gotta find another 3 NAP 250s…
Not quite right but I thought I’d see how they looked.
Now thinking do I really want a 250 Cb. It’ll spoil the aesthetic
140 cb perhaps?
Good luck finding good examples I do know someone who I think is ex Naim who does servicing, he does all my 135’s
Maybe a 110? I had a 140 but preferred the 110. Not as much authority but more musical to my ears.
You have me thinking now. To keep the shoebox look, could I run 2x110 or 140 (lh/rh) from the single hicap/32.5? It wouldn’t cost much more than a single 250.
Yes, I am aware of this being done but do not know what is required to achieve this.
You can run either with just one channel being used, or if your speakers can be bi-amped you can use both channels of both amps. Of course the ideal is to bi-amp actively with a NAXO or SNAXO active crossover.
Thanks Richard.
I haven’t decided yet but I was thinking of instead of a 250 cb, perhaps running lh channel from one 110/140 and rh channel from another 110/140.
The 62 140 it’s still in the original boxes with the foam and plastic from the factory. Both units are brand new and where found in an old stereo store. I was told there was a quite a few pieces of equipment up in the attic that had either been forgotten about or left. I’m currently purchasing hicap to go along with these units and will also be getting Chartwells. I’ll let you know in a month or so how it sounds.
Wow - how old are your units (serial numbers will say for certain)? I’m just wondering how long they’d been in that attic, waiting to go to a good home.
Mark
Is it possible that there are more cb units available?
Even if never turned on, they will need a service. Any electrolytic caps are most likely dry.
A bit like buying a NOS 30 year old watch. Yes you can run and wear it, but…a RTB is usually advised.
Gordon,
That is amazing. Would you be comfortable sharing the name of the shop so I can ring them and see what other vintage gems they may have?
My nap 120 was it manufactured in 1978 so 42 years on that. My NAC 12 was manufactured in 1974 so it’s 46 years old. I play it everyday. My NAC 62 was made in 1988 and my NAP is from 86. Just bought a Hi Cap yesterday just returned from the factory in March of this year. To me the vintage Naim is like a restored English car from the 50’s and 60’s.Take care
Gordon
