The problem I find with Tin/grey or Silver domestic electronics is that it can look dated very quickly, where as Black never seems to appear to have that same effect…
One advantage is perhaps it doesn’t show the dust build up as much.
As far as the product statement from Naim is concerned, it is just plain daft and really shows a lack of ideas. IMHO of course.
The colour looks better in those close ups than I expected but I still prefer black
It is Naim/Focal looking for ways to sell package systems. A paint job is a rather cynical way to do this. Solstice was a more sincere effort.
I like the Uniti in the grey. Maybe it’s the brushed finish, rather than the spray. To me, the two full width Unitis look too black; the grey lifts it all nicely and contrasts well with the screen. The black knobs on the Classic series, against the grey just look, well, awful.
What happens when folks want to get a xps or a 555 psu?
They end up with a mix of Tin and Black boxes
Aren’t the fascias anodised and the covers powder coated?
Having said that, I do wonder whether an arm couldn’t be twisted to at least apply a grey anodised fascia to an XPS or 555PS should an upgrade be requested - the NAP250DR fascia should be useable on either.
