My home is in the SF Bay Area, and I have experienced a number of earth tremors, so far so good with the Fraim with the Linn Klimax, LP 12 on the Fraim top shelves, NAC 552 on the second tier, and the NAP500 with its power supply on the bottom shelves.
A few months ago I reached up to get a book from the bookcase a few feet away from my turntable, it slipped in my hand, hit my elbow on the way down, bounced sideways, and landed on my Artemiz tonearm. Roksan successfully got the arm back in its bearings for me, I donāt think youād be so lucky with a framed jersey.
Well guys, thanks for all your inputs and advice. Taken the plunge and pick up a Fraim tomorrow. Will post pics and initial thoughts upon testing. Cannot wait! How can a grown man be sooooooo excited over a hifi rack!!!
I love the queued to play albums rack on the right hand stack, looks really classy.
It is a custom job (i.e. ebonized ash) from Prathermade in the U.S. I just got it. It came out so well that they are now offering it as a regular item.
I also took the plunge yesterday - replacing my 11 year old Isoblue with Full Fraim (though top level will be Lite as I donāt fancy my deck on the glass shelf). I really hope it at least matches the Isoblue - but James at TomTom assures me Iāll hear improvements. Iāll pop a post when it is all up and running.
Thanks for that tip. Iāve ordered one in ebony/anodized. Should go great with my Fraim and speakers! Better than the plastic milk crate sitting in the living room presently.
Bung a Peter Belt foil triangle on the milk crate. ![]()
Tell Brit Prather that Dean sent you. Sheāll know who I am. They have that finish because of me. I had one in a different finish. After I got my Fraim I asked them to do the ebonized one as a custom job. It took 5 months before they worked out the process and finish, but it was well worth the wait. They did a beautiful job. I also got the little record stand ebonized.
BTW: I asked them to line the bottom of the rack with black felt. It helps keep my records from sliding. My record have 5mil outer sleeves on the jackets and slipped back/forth too easily on the bare wood. The black felt stops that and looks great.
Iām actually just building a newly purchased Fraim whilst watching a little of the Le Mans 24 hour race, strange things to combine, but I have to say what a pleasurable experience it is.
Thereās no real way to justify the cost of such a thing, nor the equipment which will reside upon it when finished (Iāll post pictures in the right part of the forum later) but the joy and tactility of the Fraim will abide, hopefully after the cost is forgottenā¦
ā¦and Iām sure it will sound great, hopefully :o)
Nice pictures, eight likes!
And yes, @Gsr
Yes, the next best thing to a Fraim is a beefed up FRAIMLITE!
I might be bias, but that Black/Black Ash is beautiful.
Remember, its not how you feel or sound.
Because 9 times out of 10, if you look good, you sound great!
Enjoy Your Music, The Why!
Allante93!
May I ask who made your TT acrylic cover? Thanks !
ATB,
Mark
Norm at Stereo Squares did this for me. Not only did they make it, but Norm worked with me to get a custom spec exactly right for my application. Worth every penny spent.
Thanks!
nice deck Josquin!
While weāre on the Fraim topic. I changed some equipmentā¦well, I got a NDX2. Now on the ābrain sideā I have NAC282, NDX2, and a Herron VTPH-2a phonostage. The latter is on a Fraim med for ventilation. The others are on Fraim std. Right now from bottom up I have 282 (std), Herron (med), NDX2 (std).
Iām now thinking about a change to maybe (bottom up): 282, NDX2, Herron (med, on top) or NDX2, 282, Herron (on top).
Thoughts?
If change is your habit/delight, Fraim is your friend. That is my experience. And the card at Christmas every year from your dealer is very nice, too.
Nick
Ideally the 282 should be on top.
In the old forum others suggested putting the phonostage on top and 282 on bottom. That was before I had NDX2 when I had a ND5-XS on top of the brawn stack.
