It’s not really a question but omg putting in the NAP500dr I just got is about to take half my Saturday I suspect!!! Deep breath. Surely there’s a less pernickety stand for Naim?
Metal connectors on top of that black casing is
Looks great though!
Oh sh@@ I didn’t even put them there….
You’ll find it much easier to set up if you get an extra base and have two low stacks. It will also look a lot better and sound a lot better.
As above, two lower stacks, much, much better aesthetically & soundwise.
One trick that works for any modular rack is, once the base is level, put equipment on and connect cables one level at a time. That way you’re alway dealing only with the top most item. I.e. you build the rack and system together in parallel, not in sequence.
I’d contorted and put my back out a few times before arriving at this method.
Yup - Quadraspire, simples.
Two stacks?
Just sell it and buy a Isoblue HiFi rack. That is what I did (7 tier Naim Fraim) and can I hear a difference, can I what the heck
Great advice
I wish I was allowed!
If you do decide to rebuild one level at a time, you also have the opportunity to check the tightness of all the frame nuts.
Also double check the signal cables to the power amp as they are “handed” left and right. Much easier to check before you stack the rest of the equipment.
While the rack is in pieces, why not assemble the Fraim in two stacks and then take a view. You’ll get so much out of your lovely system and it really will look more discreet. You could have a couple of FraimLite shelves on top for pot plants if that helps, or a nice lamp. You could then buy another base if you jointly agree to the new layout.
I am liking your creativity- I am gonna pitch for it!!!
You need to talk to the boss - 2 stacks looks so much better. And you do not need to build the tower of orthanc
One Fraim stack that high gives me a panic attack.
Buy 2 medium bases and divide into 2 stacks; “brains” on the left and “brawn” on the right.
When placing the NAP500, you’ll really want to place it on the base before anything is above it. Place it and then build up the stack as you go.
A NAS doesn’t need to be on a HiFi rack. Stick the Core in a cupboard somewhere and save a shelf on that tottering tower!
Apparently according to Naim I am at the limit but it’s ok in one stack. But I have ordered a new base to divide it up. Have stacked it - Nap500 / Nap500ps / Nac552ps / CD555ps / Nac552 / ND555. Seem right until I get a new base?
Yeah I did that on the rebuild. Thanks
