Hello people.
I Have 112/150 combo, with my lovely Tannoy Cheviot HPD315A, and recently i bought a Flatcap 2.
What SNAIC cable I need to connect it, and I also have Naim PHONO N preamp with original Naim iSupply.
It is better to connect Phono in Flatcap, or leave it on original power?
And, if someone have experience with this combo and flatcap2, what can I expect in sound resolution and character?
So many questions
Thank You
The Flatcap 2 originally came with a 5 pin SNAIC. If that is missing that is what you will need to get.
The 5 pin SNAIC plugs into the Flatcap 2 (to power the NAC and get the source signal to the unit) and then the 4 pin goes to the NAP from the Flatcap 2.
It will sound better if you get the orientation of the cables fitted correctly.
I would try a SNAIC 5 to the Stageline and 4 pin to 5 pin interconnect from the flatcap to the NAC either from the stageline or from the Flatcap it does not make much difference in my experience. The isupply is OK but the flatcap should improve on it.
The 112/150 combo will have a SNAIC4 connecting them so you should have a SNAIC4 already. If the FC2 didn’t come with a SNAIC5 then you’ll need one of those.
Edit… Diagram for connecting 112 / FC2
Did you get the manual for the pre? They are findable on the net, but not anymore from Naim directly.
Be sure to power down before making or breaking connections.
The option to power the stageline from the powered AUX2 socket is worth exploring once you have the FC2 sorted out. The second power output of the FC2 is 22V instead of 24V and aimed at a CD5. Compare using that to AUX power or the isupply for the stageline. Opinions vary, except I think where the isupply is concerned.
The Flatcap comes with a Snaic 5, not 4.
Oops You are right. I will change my post. I don’t know why I transposed the cable types as it is just like that on my setup, but with a different NAC and a Hicap, the cables are the same. Oh well.
That’s a SNAIC5 so you’re all sorted to connect everything up.
Worth having a read of this which maybe useful in the future for cable identification
Yes, that’s exactly right; Flatcap, mains lead, Snaic5.
