Naim NACA4 OR NACA5 cable difference

I am getting these two cables of naim audio for my SBL speaker with naim nap 110 and nac 32 control i just wanted to confirm the model of white and black cable so i can buy after confirmation of model both cables are 3 metre in lenght the black on is a few inches more than 3 metre but not exact 3.5 as per naim recommendation but when i listen the cable i was amazed. However suggestions are more than appreciated. Orignal pics are attached

They look like NACA5 - if they are both quite stiff then that would confirm it. Probably a good idea to replace the plugs with Naim SA8 speaker connectors, which are ideal for the NAP110 and SBL connections.

3.5 meters is the minimum length ,for better sound over 5 meters and even better around 8 meters.

3 metres is fine and not so critical with more recent products.
3 metre per channel Kudos KS-1 here. :+1:

@Skeptikal How are you these days? Hope all is well. I am replacing my 12 year old P9 with a P10. The tonearm wiring insulation disintegrated. I could have gotten it rewired, but decided to move to a 10 with an Apheta factory installed. A Linn beyond the Majik was just too expensive. Also with Linn I was fearful of being tempted to continue upgrading.

@Jaybar
Hi
Hope youare well too and left all the CDP problems behind you.
I thought you had back luck all ways and didn’t enjoy the read.
Glad you’re settled and enjoying the system.
No need to keep upgrading just enjoy what you are happy with there is always something else. :+1:

@Skeptikal i hope the P10 works out well. My husband has agreed to do dust cover duty which was my only reservation. The Luxman CDP has been flawless. Once I added the NPX300 power supplies, for the 332 and 333, I have no need or want to upgrade beyond. My husband sings along when the system plays which is a sign something is right. I played the system for non audiophile friends who have been blown away. Each day I try and pick an LP or CD at random. Some bring back fond memories.

I hope the Rega Planar 10 works out well for you. I have a Linn LP12 Klimax, but it didn’t start out like that. Everything has been replaced over time.

The good thing out the Rega is you get it and it’s done. No faffing or very limited upgrading with different phono amps and carts. But for all intents and purposes you get the RP10 and it’s done.

Enjoy your very fine system.

I enjoy mine very much. It is my solace!

@Dan_M i am returning to Vinyl after a long absence. With the Naim NVCTT I have no desire to change my phono stage. My P10 has not arrived at the dealer yet. Prior to the P9 giving up the ghost for me, I had returned to vinyl 1-2 LPs a day. I am finding that my listening preferences are more evenly spaced. Getting over to the TT is not the easiest thing for me but it forces me to work through my mobility and eye-hand coordination issues.

Impressive thread drift!

Back on topic…

I agree with Richard that the pictured cables both look like NACA5. See this thread for more details on how to confirm.

BTW, what are some thoughts on A4 vs A5 sound differences?

I haven’t done any formal comparisons, but have run both 4M of A4 and ~6.5M of A5 on my Chrome Bumper 62/HiCap/140 system.

Obviously, it’s not a fair comparison due to the length differences. Again, I wasn’t really trying to do more than a casual comparison. However, both sounded excellent to me on that system. Nothing stood out as broken when I switched from the longer A5 to the shorter A4.

(On the other hand, I have noticed clearly audible differences while doing length only comparisons of A5 (only) on my main 252/250DR system, FWIW. It’s been discussed before, but I may start a new thread on that topic)

Better timing and cleaner sound in NacA5 ,a really good upgrade from NacA4.

But there is also some of this naim magic in naca4. With CB I would give them definitely a try. And they are cheap these days.

For sure the NacA4 is a very good cable.

NacA5 was introduced under the Chrome Bumper era

With Naim connectors I actually marginally prefer A4 to A5 with my 52/SC/135 and analogue sources. Both are great though!

I can’t hear a difference at 3 or 5 meters; NACA 4 has tight bass and NACA 5 a rounded bass.

That’s because a Uniti 1 is more like a regular amp,so don’t need longer cables.

The same is true for the nait 3, but perhaps other factors are also at play

A NAIT 3 should definitely show a difference between 3 or 5 metres - 3 meters will be a a little edgier. But it will of course depend upon all other factors being right and using the right plugs and well soldered etc..
