Trying to help…

My daughter is taking the 72/140 to Manchester. But didnt want the hicap. She said two boxes was enough. Anyway that just gave me a way in, with the remaining hicap to rebuild the system.
Having a 52/sc would give me a problem with my main system a 282 and two hicap drs.

Will have to take a look inside one. Cant find anywhere where the va rating is stated. My curiosity is getting the better of me!

My understanding is that the 250 started at 400VA, then changed to 500VA, around the time the 135 came out (believe they have similar transformers).

It may well have gone up again, with the 250.2 - ??

The 250dr I think is upto a 1000va, but you’re right,the olives were 400, the 500. Quite a change.

I’ve heared those loudspeakers once at a party. I joined a friend to visit a friend of him and when I entered the room I instantly spotted the Sonusfabers and a Supernait / NDX. I connected to my friends friend and we started to listen music, turning the volume up and up and up until a normal conversation wasn’t possible and the wifes started to complain.

What I remember is that they have a very luxurious / lush / full sound and the timbre (or tonal colour) was ideal for classical music. I can only dream how this sound driven by a 52/135’s.

Lucky you!

Ps, the guy had the loudspeakers wrapped in their transport bags since he was hosting a party, but after the first piece of music they were quickly ‘undressed’.

Thank you! They replaced a pair of SBL’s fairly recently. They sound beautiful, by far the most immersive speakers I have had the opportunity to listen to. A perfect pairing with the 52/135s

A whole rack of olive goodies would be just greedy :joy:

Oh dear, I must be ‘greedy’ then!

How do you call it? Stairway to heaven?

The intention is to move the Billy cabinet, and drop the rack down to more manageable heights.
However, to move the Billy, we have to make space for it in the utility/storeroom.
But before we do that we need to shift stuff out of the garage.
Before doing that we needed to clear out the shed.
And prior to that the focus was clearing out the loft.

Do you see where I’m going with this? And do not mention either (a) the study, or (b) the remainder of the daughters’ “stuff”, that’s been hanging around “chez Mum & Dad” since they left Uni!

My daughter moved out post uni too. Left most of her junk, but took my 72/140, P6 Rega, speakers and 2 off 5M lengths of NACA5.

You have only yourself to blame, and have clearly brought up the young lady rather too well! I don’t blame her at all, though, as the 72/140 is the basis of a cracking little starter system.

Watch out, as she will probably get herself a nice turntable, and then start ‘borrowing’ some of your favourite LPs.

She’s already got one (the P6), it’s very nice.
