Thanks for the advice Richard.

So I automatically take care about those points.
But I have still to check the exact horizontality of the glass shelf. I think it could be better.

Talking about the CDS, I recently swapped my CDS’s grey Burndy for a S-CDPS Burndy.
Only day 4 of burning in, that I can already hear the ‘natural, smooth, sense of ease’ mentioned in Stereophile’s review of the player in 1992, along with all the improvements that the writer made criticisms then. Have to say it’s one heck of cable, spent like half an hour only to give it a complete massage (not even do that to my girlfriend), and the Naim music flow came from the beginning.
I think after the service everyone needs the black x-burndy to dial back the proper Naim sound. The burndy itself is another level compare to the grey. My other 52 black burndy is on the way from Tomtom and can’t wait to have full loom of black cables (had the black snaic)…
Julius, do you mean the S-CDPS Burndy, which had all the improvements made to the S-XPS Burndy, but applied to the CDPS Burndy?
p.s. Would you be able to post a picture of it, showing the pin layout of the plug so I could add it to the Burndy FAQ? I also need just the standard CDPS Burndy..
I have the CDPS Burndy not in use at present so could take a pic if that helps Richard, although it is modified to suit the CDS2 as it was a CDS to CDS2 “conversion”?
Yeah Richard! Thanks for the corrections, I learnt about the S-CDPS from you and posts from old forum! I’ll take the photo for you once get back to the office
@ChrisG Is yours 13 pins? If so that’s the one
Yup that’s great Chris, we could do with that one too - please try to get both ends in the shots to show the pins (13-11)
Richard, just had a look a the cable and it has 11 pins each end and has a banded label CDS11, pin layout is identical each end?
I’m not sure, I thought it was a modified CDPS cable but not sure whether both ends were altered to suit. Perhaps @NeilS knows for sure.
I’ve always had it in my mind that when the CDS1 head unit was converted to CDS11 the Burndy was modified as well. There was certainly a white dot painted on the rear of the CDSPS to show that it was suitable for a CDS11 head unit.
I found the paperwork from Naim when they swopped my CDS1 to CDS11 and it mentions a modified Burndy which is as above.
As I understand it, the modified cable could be made from a 13 pin CDS Burndy, or an 11 pin XPS Burndy.
The CDS version would have 13 pins at the power supply end & 10 pins at the player end.
The XPS version would have 10 pins at both ends.
The unused pins were supposed to be removed, but I think on some, the wire was just snipped off & the cable relabelled.
Regards
Neil.
Thanks Neil. So, looking at Chris’ picture above, what he has there is essentially an XPS Burndy, except that the pin orientation looks very slightly different, with one pin in a different position, which is confusing…
Here’s an 11-pin S-XPS Burndy for comparison.
Hi Neil, my head unit has a white dot at the Burndy port (and no s/n), both sides of the original grey burndy got 13 pins, everything is working fine and bought from Uk dealer without any known modifications. Would you mind to comment if the extra pins (13 vs 10) causes any problems with it? Thanks!
Ok, the reality doesn’t reflect the process instructions I was referencing yesterday.
This is a CDS Burndy:
This is an XPS Burndy:
And this is the modified version:

Thank you Neil!
