Naim on delay with equipment delivery

Seems another batch that took the slow boat? It wants to update to the June 2020 release…

I agree it’s a big improvement. WiFi seems ton better, addition of Chromecast as well. (They replaced Qb1s). The remote is quite nice (What they should have included with the Uniti’s IMO) Sounds a bit better as well. And fit and finish is better than the full size Mu-so! No unfinished edges.

But it’s strange that yours, picked up on the same day, seem to be much newer when my dealer was unable to get hold of any, and both the Mu-so which turned up over a month ago and at least one of the Qbs that just turned up seem to be really old stock/production. Apparently the next batch he has on order will only come late August. (Nothing for me in that one BTW, I’m all set now)

Perhaps the UK is supplied differently to the EU?

All the same stock, but obviously individual country distributors may allocate products in different ways.

AFAIK the distributor didn’t have any stock, hence my order taking months. Perhaps I’ve been really unlucky, but three out of four boxes have had those leaflets.

I have just committed to a new bit of Naim kit. Quoted lead time is 12 weeks. Will I see it before Christmas? :grinning:

Odds are you’ll receive an expired discount offer from Naim for when time travel’s invented :grinning:

Having ordered an NDX2 back in February the bad news is that I still don’t have a delivery date. The good news is that my excellent dealer has given me an extended loan of the dem unit so I am sorted. The shame here is that both Naim and dealers will be losing sales which is such a shame.

Given current difficulties re lead times, out-of-stock products etc., I thought I’d pass on a local dealer’s (Thailand) creative response to my request to demo a Chord Hugo DAC:

Now Chord Hugo TT2 have no specific time to arrive. We forecast it would take very long time. However, our showroom have Chord Qutest DAC that can demonstrate. You can try on Qutest instead and know that Hugo TT2 will be much better than Qutest about 3-4 times!

Presumably this technique works for Naim gear too. Anyone wanting to demo a Statement can listen to a Nait instead and just apply the appropriate ‘upscale’ factor. Simple!

That is very creative, especially the 3-4 times part. There is no DAC in the world which is even twice as better, whatever than numbers means

At this price point my expectation is 1.11111x times better when doubling the price

I guess I’ve pretty much done that with ordering the 552. I have never heard one. :open_mouth:

I have however collected a few bits of kit from the 92/90 through to the 252/300 and each step is an improvement in what I hear, so the 552 is my logically affordable final stage.

Probably the most helpful thing that’s ever been written on this forum! Truth.

Had an ND5XS2 on order since January… no sign of even a date when it might appear.
Dropped into dealer today to drop off LP12 for a Karousel upgrade who says most things are coming through now apart from the ND5XS2, apparently delay down to one chip.

I think the main issue is the lack of communication. I’ve had a 250 and Fraim level on order for four months and can’t even get an answer on a likely delivery timeframe.

I can entirely appreciate the reasons for delays, but the lack of communication is pretty poor for Naim customers.

I gave up waiting for an ND5XS2 and got a Rega P8 instead.
Made do with the UQ2 as a streamer until an NDS came up at a price I liked.
Similar pain in getting any idea of timescales.

Worked,in manufacturing in the 1970s after the oil crisis , if the supply chain is defective there isn’t that much a specialist manufacturer can do about it.

Imagine The Godfather , if the gun hadn’t been planted behind the cistern…

I bet a competitor decided on one Naim component that breaks it all and bought them all for one year production.

   My Nova is in!!! YAY! He had just told me July and SURPRISE! Just received the call! :stuck_out_tongue:

And I did order a Powerline…so I’ll have it for a while and then get the Powerline. That will let me compare the difference of with and without.

Talking to my dealer yesterday re a 552 and he was saying that quite a few brands had extended delivery times a customer ordered an Atom yesterday delivery quoted as some time in August !!
