My daughter-in-law Danni Bradford’s an artist who produces artwork using Vérre - églomisé, the gilding of glass. For my 70th birthday my family bought me this wonderful owl picture, which I’d previously admired. It’s made using gold leaf, amongst other things. Photos really don’t do it justice!
Someone was trying very hard with their ideas around perspective but we liked it anyway and picked this up many, many long years ago while in Havana on our honeymoon.
Excellent story / history Adam.
I’m always amazed at the amount of LC stuff at Pangolin gallery (and the prices). Dan Chadwick is doing a good job at the Woolpack - now with an extension above the kitchen.
Well, well, Mrs Lee is still going strong and Jesse is seen from time to time.
Keep watering the ducks …
Tentative link … Peter Scott was a joint founder of the Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust, which bought the wood you can see from the Woolpack’s south facing windows from the Lee family a few years ago. Jesse was in attendance when it was formally opened.
Camp Riding School. This was run by Joe and Sylvia Barron who used to live in the cottage where I now live in. When Joe died, his son Chris ran the school, but he died in a riding accident a few years ago.
Sadly the school no longer exists, but an off-shoot is the Kitty Barron Riding for the Disabled, that runs sessions twice a week.
Good stuff … back in the day I spent some time down in Devon next door to his studio. I got to know his mother in law; she was from Prague and it gave my girl friend pleasure to talk Czech with Mimi. Mimi’s husband had been an artist who had co founded the Manes club on the Vltava in Prague.
Another one of mine.
This started as a red abstract but wasn’t totally happy with it. Inspired by Yves Klein I tried to replicate his lovely blue over it.
This dried and after hanging on the wall to cure, the painting decided to carry on the process itself by blistering and a gash.
Thinking at first my initial intentions was ruined, thinking about Yves Klein and his jump into the void…
… I’ve grown to love this as perhaps being more appropriate.
