I think if you buy photography it can be classed as art, is Ansel Adams any less of an artist than …?

This is from a young Maltese photographer and is of Valletta , all I will say is that the original took half a gig of memory. I thought it had been taken using Fuji Velvia on a medium camera.

I had it Gicleed on glossy photographic paper and my eighty year old framer declined to use my normal non-reflective glass as it would obscure some of the finer detail.

It would be the jigsaw from hell

Another couple of mine.
For me they are like a piece of furniture that will never leave.

I have this replica of a painting of The King Elvis Presley in my music room. I get it in 1964. If I remember correct it came as a bonus with the album Roustabout.

Afraid our conversation strayed off -piste .

Yep Ian me thinks it did

Local artist, made using vinyl LPs and acrylic paint. I love it. The wife is not so keen, so I keep her in my office.

Is it Siddhartha?

Great novel that.

And the Glass Bead Game.

(I’ve been to the Himalaya 4 times, but not for the past 15 years.)

Wonderful sense of calm and joy in that face.

Satchidananda.

Well spotted! Believe it or not, it wasn’t made on purpose. Your comment just made me realise that the novel and the sculpture go well together

I read almost all Hermann Hesse novels, some in both French and German. The one I tend to return to regularly is Narziß und Goldmund.

Impressive!

I like that small piece of history a lot. It reminds me to what’s really important : moments of calm while climbing in the Alps, sharing books and music with my wife and daughter and realizing that everything could end tomorrow.

I watched the start of the Alex Honnold film Free Solo tonight with my 8 year old son, who loves climbing.

And then we had a close look at the photo we have of El Cap (see above post #12).

When the photographer took it he opened the shutter for about 8 minutes to allow enough moonlight to hit the film.

You can see that in the fact that while the crag is crystal clear, the stars can be seen moving in arcs through the sky above.

It is not in a frame but still art…hired a graffiti artist for a couple of days this summer and asked him to paint a wall…amazing what a skilled artist can do with a couple of cans of spray paint!
